What would the largest fitting tires be on a 17x7.5 rim?

I guess I'm asking more specifically about the height of the tire since I'm running the 3.909 ratio box/diff.

Opinions guys?

I'm a fan of 225 tires. They're wide enough to have good grip but not so wide that they walk all over the road when it's rutted. A 225/45/17 tire would be 25" tall compared to the stock 24.2" and I wouldn't go much taller than that or you may find the tire rubbing the inner fender wall when you turn in. I have a set of 225 tire on my 16x7 and I like the way it hangs past the rim a little. You won't get that on a 7.5" wheel but considering that people run 205s on 7s, 225 on 7.5 is probably not too narrow a tire for the rim.

Galant wheel/tire info can be found here

On a 7.5" wide rim you can fit 235/40-17's but depending on offset it might rub.

Looking at the database, 225 45 R17 sound ok.

235 45 R17 I wouldn't mind trying BUT I don't want to be stuck with tires that scrub.

They are for EVO V enkei F1 rims.
I've gone 5stud!

Agreed, this is about the most you can fit on there, but the car may actually be more responsive and predictable on 225's.

Taken from the same link:

rim tire offset comments backspace
17x9 245/45/17 25 Konig Villan for 95+ Mustang 6.27
17x9 255/40/17 25 Konig Villan for 95+ Mustang 6.5
17x9 255/40/17 28 Sticks out about 1" Kuhmo V700's 6.62
17x9 255/40/17 30 Sticks out a little 6.7

Note: It appears that a tire/wheel combo that ends up with a total back space number of 6.0 to 6.7 will work

It also depends on what tire size you go with.

Do you guys think a 17x9 +22 offset rim would fit our cars?

17 x 9 with a +22 offset would put the wheels well past the fenders. Even if you were to use a 17 x 8 wheel the +22 offset is too agressive to fit inside stock fenders.

Hmmm...

I might just stick the the 17x7.5" rims then.

Although it would look great with flared gaurds, I just don't think there is much gain for doing this.]

Thanks for the info!
