ok this should be pretty simple and straight forward. the rear rubber pillows the springs sit in for the rear struts, the 1g ones are thicker than galant ones. but by how much? nobody has any real number for the difference between the two. im thinking of a cheap little way to raise up the rear a touch after the sprint springs (and i work at the dealer /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif)

The 2nd gen talon rears are what your wanting to raise it up. Not just the rubber ring but acually the mount is different in height. I think its like 3/8 or 1/2 inch.

ok cuz i had always heard about the 2g rear strut tops but never really paid much attention to it. so just the top mounting assembly or that and the rubber ring?

The top mount plate spring isolator rubber would be best as they work together. They will raise the car 1". At least 3 or 4 members have utilized this. The shape of the top plate and its relationship to the spring is what changes.

Yes, I'm suggesting that because the rubber rings are designed differently.
