Willing to bet its MPI...... if your car starts acting funny then we'll know.

There is one under the dash, next to the ECU iirc, my brother had to replace an MPI relay, due to cutout boost, and lack of engine power. Replaced the MPI relay* and rewired it ( PO hacked it up and put it on a switch ) and hasn't had that problem in a long time.

*Fixed.

Have you inspected the ecu for damage/evidence that the caps have been replaced?

A clicking/noisy mpi relay is often caused by an ecu that has an acid damaged board that can no longer control the fuel pump leg of the mpi relay reliably.

Might not be a bad idea to pull the ecu and take some pics of the board. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

+1

And that gold thing you're talking about is definitely the main MPI relay. I had some issues with mine, once. Part of the connector had gotten hot at some point and had trouble making contact. Check the contacts and plug on that as well as your ECU.
