I was thinking about the steering rack mounts and was wondering how hard are they? Do they have flex in them and if so does anyone make inserts or solid mounts for the rack?

the two spots where the rack is bolted to the frame just have rubber wrapped around the rack, to keep it from being metal on metal. I doubt it has much "give" thus making an upgrade less than worth nothing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

A new bushing on the drivers side makes a huge difference in steering feel and feedback, especially if the original bushing has been deteriorated by a leaky rack.

The passenger side bushing is no longer available new, but some creativity can make a big difference. I used a little bicycle handlebar friction tape, and it tightened things up nicely.

Overall, one of the best investments for returning that "like new" feeling to the higher mileage cars. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

They make poly bushings for the evo, and although one of the sides on an evo is WAY different, I seem to remember thinking the other side may fit our cars.

That's kinda what I thought. I have about 130k on her and it feels like the rack maybe moving a bit. I wanted know before spending the time and money to make it better.
What's everyones feelings on using a solid mount set up over bushings.
