Has anyone actually had them side by side to notice the differences? I wonder if the part # for them is the same, though i highly doubt it.

I found these pics of evo3 heads. Can someone with caps working cross reference this part # for me for u.s. applications?

I'd assume they are closer to 7 bolt heads than 6 bolt ones, no? That number doesn't come up in my caps.

Link isn't working.

You can't give too much validity to the part numbers found in CAPS and on lookup sites. Sometimes when you enter the part number at the dealer to order it the number changes to a cross referenced part. The number for the older 2G heads might supersede to the one for the newer ones.

Crap type the # in & it says it's for 95~96' 2g turbo & a 94' 2.4 liter. I'm looking to buy a evo3 head. But if it's the same as a 2g that will save me a ton of money. So if the evo3 head is the same as a 95~96', then what's different about a 97'~99' 2g?

G, they are so similar that I doubt you are going to see much of a differance. I would just get a 2g head for $50 and call it good.

Probably has to do with the fact that 95-96 had the holes tapped for the cam sensor behind the intake cam gear, 97-99 had a cam sensor in a similar location to a 1g.

That's my theory.

Far as I know, any year head will accept a 1g sensor with no problems. But, if using the 95-96 style sensor setup (not sure why you would...dam things get brittle and break all the time) the bosses are only there on the 95-96 castings. Again, my theory...don't have a head off a 95 to compare.

I have a 95 head on my car and minus boring out the head bolt holes a smidge it was a complete bolt on deal.

Nice. I double checked with mmna & they say the above part # is for the 1/95 TO 11/95 2.0 dsm TURBO only, but it also looks like the evo 3 head as well.
