Is black RTV ok to use on oil pan?

It's what you should use for the oil pan. I use it with excellent results. You must let it cure for at least 24hours. It cures slower than grey. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I prefer grey, but have used black on my DSM with no issues. Black is what Toyota uses for all engine oil related sealing, and I never seen one leak after using it.

When using either black or grey just make sure the surface is clean and dry. Wipe it down with brake cleaner a few minutes before you apply the silicone. You shouldn't have any issues with black, I've even seen blue silicone work on a Honda oil pan with no issues.
