Has anyone tried running one on a vr4? Is it even possible? Or am I barking up the wrong tree.

Looks like mostly everything is in the correct location (ie TPS, ISC, water pipes, throttle connection, vac pipes etc). Question is what is the diameter of the throttle plate? If it's the same size or just marginally larger than a VR-4 throttle plate, then it isn't really worth the hassle of swapping on. The N/A 6G Galant throttle plate is often 5mm (~1/4") larger in diameter - that may be a more worthwhile upgrade.

*edit* I guess the best advantage would be the elimination of the stock VR-4 throttle body elbow but you would have to redo a portion of the upper intercooler piping to suit.

Evo 8 and 9 have 60mm throttle bodies. There is no performance gain to be had. Buddy and I were talking about this one day a few years ago.

Eliminating the elbow isn't really that big of an advantage, as it can be done with a DSM non turbo throttle body. The NT ones have a larger diameter as well. So unless is it decently bigger, I don't see it being worth the hassle.

Yea, i have a 1g NT TB, no gay elbow or 2nd gasket to form a vacuum leak.

I would just stick with the 1G throttle, it has the same size throttle plate. I'm not sure if the IAC motor for the evos has the same resistance values and if it would work properly. Other than having a possibly different throttle cable pulley ramp rate, I doubt it's really worth to change it out.

But is there an argument that for ISC airflow, if it flowed more (the EVO9 TB), would it help smooth things out at idle with lumpy cams?
Assuming proper resistance at the ISC motor for ECU driver compatibility.
Was this design less prone to leakage of the FIAV gasket, and internal aluminum rot from coolant neglect?

I've heard that an extra 5mm won't get you that much of a gain. Also as far as I know a bigger FIAV or IAC valve port won't smooth out a lumpy cam idle.
