Question, what is up with the trunk key hole? Is is there or can be drilled? I was hoping it would be covered and not noticeable but I can clearly see a "dimple" in the center. Otherwise looks great and pretty good prices.

btw, for the people asking for JDM hood, why can't you just buy CF replica of the JDM hood vent and install on this one? what would be your concern?

You can buy the replica JDM hood vent and install it, but I'd be scared of screwing it up, and if professionally installed would probably be a higher price point then if Kamil had them made like that from the start.

Obviously you can see I'm waiting for the JDM hood. It'll be a Christmas present to myself :-)

The JDM hood has the vent area set into the sheet metal. There are depressions that allow the vents to sit essentially flush with the hood line, VS on top when installing teh vents into a factory style hood.

The dimple for the key hole is there for the people that want to drill it out. It's covered by carbon fiber. I got inquiries on both and we would have to make two molds to satisfy and that route would be too expesnive. Just to give you an idea, we break even on the 15th order so I hope we can at least get 16 of them out.

The factory JDM hood also has the correct underhood skeleton to accomodate the vents. Cutting into USDM hood for vents may look good from above, but not as clean from underneath. If a well fitting carbon JDM hood was offered, I would finally jump on the CF bandwagon, possibly for a trunk also.

cool!

are both sides done at different times then epoxied together?i like how the back framework is there.

-get UV protection somehow or the CF will rot over time(not sure how long). maybe a clear coat with some polarization?

and if you need to drill or cut .... do it with water OR a vacuum while you do so... fiberglass shards are no fun!(shards is basically dust that will "irritate" your skin. very painful if you happen to rub it in.)

Re: Carbon Fiber hoods and trunks are done!!

this might be a dumb question on my part but why didnt you make the under hood "flat" or "smooth"? that way people with VR4 rs hood vents can just cut holes to accommodate the vents.

is there an integrity issue with regard to the suggestion above? reason i ask is because i also plan to have my hood converted to CB here in the Philippines and i was thinking of just doing the under side of the hood flat. I'm also planning to put another small vent on the passenger side near the windshield to help my meth tank "cool" plus help engine bay tempreture's at bay.

Ive done it with my wife's suzuki swift. no integrity issues. but then again, the swift isnt as fast as my galant. Plus the swift didnt have any vents on it.

You should, all the people who will order won't say squat in this thread. They'll just be adults and be happy you offered the product you did, all the whiners who can't afford it anyway will find some minuscule reason they won't order one.

We can definitely, do colored carbon fiber, but of course that costs $100-$180 more depending on the color. Should I post this in the for sale section? I don't know how vendors post new products for sale here.

It took us so long because I tried over and over to convince our manufacturer to make these parts. He wants to make 150 of each and I promised that we will sell 15 of each even if we have to take a small loss.

From my understanding you guys are on hold until someone tries these parts. We will try to contact the donor of the parts and see if he wants to test fit these parts.

I will take a trunk next week. (so glad you went with the idea of pluging the key and spoiler holes ) I will definately take a JDM hood as soon as they are done. I just hope that you will go with the EXACT same design as the JDM stock with the separate vents that bolt in and not just molded; that is what will make on break the deal for me. Also, if you could shave the holes for the washer sprayers like you did for the key on the trunk, that would be a definate plus. Some good pics of both installed on a gvr4 would really help sell your products though. You had plenty of pics of all your sexy cf parts for dsm's on the tuners thread, I'm sure that really helped to spread the message that you guys are legit.

So is that a no? Some of us have been waiting on this to happen since it was first mentioned back in march. If those who are definately in for a jdm hood put down a deposit, will that help to make sure it happens?
It just blows that people with cash in hand for parts that WILL SELL have to suffer because of a bunch of cheap ass people that put their name on the waiting list KNOWING good and well that they were full of ish about actually buying....

I know that the jdm hoods will sell. Just look at how many of the hideous "invader style" hoods and cf hoods that do not fit right have been purchased and are floating around here. If people would pay $500 for the invader hood, there is something definately wrong if they would choose that over the jdm style.

Re: Carbon Fiber hoods and trunks are done!!

Definitely not. Seeing our dsm parts one of 8g galant owner contacted us about making trunks and hoods for them. They got 15 people of each and are paying $100 deposits to get the project started. If you can get 15 people who are willing to put $100 deposits and a jdm hood donor (he/she will get the hood back) I will start on this right away. This way our manufacturer doesn't feel like we are starting another project that he will not benefit from. Once again, Hi-Rev breaks even on the 15th order and from there we and our manufacturer makes profit. This was strictly a favor to a lot of you who pm'd and emailed us for months to get these parts made. I have emailed everyone who was interested and have not received any replies. I will post this up in the for sale section and hope for the best. Thanks for your support guys.

Re: Carbon Fiber hoods and trunks are done!!

Several were offered, but Kamil (for understandable reasons) is only looking for one in absolutely perfect condition to make the mold. Mine is in good condition and sitting in my garage, but I told him the corners are a bit scraped up from shipping so he said no. I offered to send him pictures of the hood, but he never responded.

Basically what he's looking for doesn't exist - any 16+ year old hood that's been shipped halfway around the world isn't going to be perfect. What he's looking for is someone who's already spent money and had theirs repaired, straightened, painted and had any dents removed already, and anyone who's gone though that kind of effort with a JDM hood isn't going to want to ship it, and probably won't be interested in replacing it with a carbon one.

Sorry for not responding. Sometimes we get 300+ emails per day. If it's only scraped not dented it will definitely work. No the issue is of gettin 15 people together. As you all know I am very open to new ideas as long as there is support for it.

It would be way to expensive to make these parts overseas because we would have to cover shipping of oem steel parts and carbon fiber ready parts. Each part costs $350-$400 to ship there. You can do the math from there.

Forced may have been mistaken but you did answer my question tho, self pickup is not available and/or will not save any money.
Just a suggestion, in the future I would not break down the cost by part and shipping if the customer cannot save on either.

I don't mean to sound rude, but we had almost 20 people on the initial list. We delivered the part that you requested and not one person purchased it. People asked for pictures to see the fitment and they claimed they would purchase if it fits weel. I posted those and you can see the perfect fitment. We have invested over $3k so far in the initial mold and I do not understand what went wrong. I will be putting them on Ebay and in the for sale section. True. I think that's why so many of those CF hoods that don't fit very well seem to sell like hotcakes on Ebay. Make 'em and they will sell. Just a thread in the general discussion forum on the galant board isn't enough marketing. At least hit up Ebay also.

I'd say one of the worst ways to get into the VR-4 market is thru carbon fiber; liked it's cursed, lol. At a minimum, imo, if you want to draw business is to get a legitmate website going with you being the distributor of course and outlining the manufacturing and its quality. Need to get some good word of mouth going on something like this and if it's genuine (product and business) then they will sell...

I think Kahmil has proved that this isn't a scam & he has many positive feedback on tooners. Who's the member's car it was test fitted on? Why not post your observations?

Kahmil had them build without taking a deposit & that says a lot . The quality looks awesome in the pictures & the price is reasonable per item shipped. Now all the people that were saying they will buy needs to buy or I gurantee the price will go up to cover the tooling & labor put into getting this to the market & the lack of sales. Then you guys are going to bitch about the price.

VERY IMPORTANT - Look at the edge by the driver's fender . Notice it flows with the leading curve of the fender & it doesn't bow . No other CF hoods currently on the market can claim this. This is the best replica I've seen & I think it's worth it. Good job to you & your manufacturer Kahmil.

you guys that want jdm hoods do realize that he would then be eating the stock hood mold right. Why would he want to make another one when the people that all said they'd buy the first one either backed out completely or just want to wait and get the next style. Talk is cheap, put up or shut up. Let him sell the 15 stocks then see if he wants to go further. If and when he does make jdms, sell your stocker on eBay and order the new one. Not like they will lose value. I will be getting a stock one.

Personally, I would rather have a stock hood over a jdm knockoff, or even a real one for that matter.

I DO plan on buying from kamil, but when the time is right. This is why I never posted in this thread early on when he was taking head count. I think mentioning jdm hoods possibly going into production was a deterrent to those who were planning on buying the stock ones.

I agree with GW 100%. These parts look fantastic, and they are at a really reasonable price. Not only are they a good price, but he is offering a GOOD chunk off if you order both pieces.
It was a bold move making parts for a car that only has 1500(ish) left in existence instead of something like a honda, and I applaud him on that.

Well I'm still waiting on the JDM Carbon Fiber Hood. Although the possibility that it might not happen makes me sad. I'm pretty sure I already said that on another thread though when I found out our JDM hood source fell through. This is a bad situation just because there's only a handful of people that want the stock. I thought a majority of us were shooting for JDM. On the first thread I see a list of roughly 20 for hoods and 20 for trunks. There wasn't anybody that was selling the JDM carbon fiber which is why I thought they would sell good. I didn't know Kamil were going to make oem's. Granted this is a beautiful quality hood. There was already a bojank mold out for oem carbon.

Ughhhh.

Re: Carbon Fiber hoods and trunks are done!!

I was looking at the pics some more and they do look nice and hopefully everything will work out alright. I was curious how 'ready' is the hood for paint, as it's hard to tell in the pics (something you have to be there to properly gauge)? I only ask because if I were to consider one, I would like to have an idea on whether it would take a lot of manhours on the body shop's part to get it loooking like oem (when painted); perhaps it's already pretty straight though [I don't know, so hence the question]...I like the look of carbon fiber on certain things, but I would paint mine if I got it and would be for the weight savings (or if JDM down the road), yet I'd want it to look like nothing's different, if that makes sense?

Because the amount of votes for a cf jdm hood in the beginning was much higher than the amount of votes for a usdm cf hood. Re: Carbon Fiber hoods and trunks are done!!

We made the trunk with the dimple so that people have a choice between having it covered or drilling a hole for the lock. Unfortunately, when making a mold we cannot have two options available on one mold. We would have to have the dimple covered all the way and make a new mold for that, which cost $$$. We did have 20 people for the trunk and 20 for the oem hoods and another 16 for the jdm style hoods. People wanted to buy oem hoods as long as one of the sides doesn't collapse like on the other molds out there. I asked for deposits, which I always do, but I was told that Galant guys got burned before by other vendors and considering the fact I pretty much come from the same community (4g63 2g) I put all my trust in your words and I took a risk on making both molds. Believe me, I really understand financial issues. Our company got fraudulent orders for over $30k and we lost money and parts in the last 3 months. Well, we have to move on and keep on plugging away. However, if you commit yourself to purchasing something, try to come through with your word. Thanks for all the understanding.
