Using foglight switch as off/on switch

Hey, I checked out our service manual's electrical book and I think I figured it out but I wanted a few other opinions before I tried anything. Our dashes come with a blank switch next to the defroster button, and I wanted to wire up a cutout muffler into my car. I had an idea to kinda hide it by using a second foglight switch in place of that blank to operate the cutout, but I'm not sure if our foglight switch can act like an off/on switch or not.

To me, it looks like if I hook the wires up to pin 1 and pin 3 on the switch it will operate like a normal on/off switch if I leave the rest unplugged. What do you think?

That looks correct, you should confirm it with an ohmmeter before wiring it up.

You may also want to use it to trigger a relay depending on the draw from the cutout. I believe that switch only triggered the fog light relay to run the fogs (FSM should have more info), so it's not rated for much current.

These are the same as the latch on demister switch too. the middle part comes out and you could add a different emblem. IIRC there should also be a pilot you can patch in so the switch changes colour when activated.
