Yea its been kinda gloomy here sonce theyve been on. They still have the slicks on too.

Ive picked up an old accord that im DDing now, which means Johnny will be getting driven less and worked on more. The last couple pics are of it with the D2 suspension on, and mainly to show the wheel fitment as well. Need camber arms for the rear badly **AHEM BOBDOLE AHEM** lol

Spent some time over the weekend installing some parts and such. Found a '92 SW grille I installed, got a set of AMG corners and bulbs/pigtails fir stupidcheap and got those installed, threw on my Fuel Lab high flow FF and -6 feedline kit, some spanking new front slotted rotors with black zinc coating and new ceramic pads, setup the preload and ride height, also corner balanced the car again with the D2's(have to say Im LOVING those things), removed the exhaust from the end of the DP to the muffler to be redone a bit more free-flowing-like, and started mocking up my Moroso catch can setup to run with my Hyundai VC.

Overall, it was a good weekend. I even got to go out for a bit of a cruise with some friends, and embarrass some Evo's and few other cars.

I have some sort of funky boost issue that I need to sort out once I find a cap and coupler in 4" to fit the T67, since I cant see over 14lbs no matter what I do....

Still have some more pieces/parts to install, like inner and outer tie rod ends and new p.stg pump such, but those will get done shortly and It'll be off to the shop for an allignment.

Pics to follow ASAP!

I plan to for a little bit, it'll be a "hit and run" kind of deal because I've got a wedding to go to later that afternoon though.

hey Jake.... i had a very similar problem that you did, with the boost. well, two actually. both of which had to do with the Hallman. i broke a spring in one, and on another, had one of the ports come loose. it was the inlet port, not the one going to the wastegate. once it got loose, no matter how much i tightened it, the air would go around the ball and it would stay at wastegate pressure. just a couple things to check briefly.

also, home depot for the 4" coupler/cap. that's what i used and it's been working awesome for years! i even took a valve stem, and drilled a hole to mount it in the cap. hope this helps ya brother. car's lookin nice!

Excellent, thanks Phil! I'll definitely have to check that out.

I know when I first installed the bosst controller i did notice one of the ports being loose, but tightened the piss out of em. I'll have to doublecheck that again. Allthough, my WG only has a .5bar spring in it ATM, sot he fact I'm hitting basically dead on 1bar is a bit odd. I'll have to look into the coupler thing too, it's so weird the 4" one I got didnt work, and was actually closer to 4 3/8".

Thanks again man!

Thatd be cool man, but being as siliconintakes.com is local to me i think im just going to spend the money and grab one from them. Supposrt some local business and get what i need all in one shot!

My list of "to-do's" now includes:

Finding a set of 1600cc+ injectors and a bosch 040 or similar inline fuel pump as well as a Gates kevlar belt and nee cam and crank seals.

That should make the car dyno ready so i can see what this stock bottom end will take abuse-wise /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I did notice after driving it the other day that third gear is getting a tad notchy. Actually not all that surprising given the abuse this unit has been through expecially when you consider its a '90 unit. Time to keep an eye open for a 92 unit!

Well, family circumstances changed and I had to part ways with Johnny5. It got to the point that it was a bit too much to handle on the street, and I wasnt even close to tapping the full potential of the car or setup yet. Traffic came up a bit too quickly(when it actually spooled), and I decided it wasnt the best toy to keep in the family with my lady and little man. Rather than de-grade it again to a bolt on/16g car, I passed it onto another former GVR4 enthusiast who will DEFINITELY do it right, and proud. Oddly enough, #5 is also his 5th GVR4, so he's anything but a stranger to our cars.

I was extremely sad to see it go, but I can honestly say it couldn't have gone to a better person. I cant wait to see where he goes with the build, and Im extremely anxious to see it's future state.

I'll post some updated pics/etc of it when I get off and can access my PB acct, as I just realized I even forgot to update this thread.....whoops!

Wellp, it's been a LONG while.... and I miss the hell outta 'ol Johnny5. The new owner is keeping up with it - by means of storing it in his shop under a cover. Seems like Im the only owner Im aware of that actually DROVE it.... Sad, sure. BUT, like I said he's a good guy. Once he's got time Im sure he'll dive right in. He also told me Id be the only person he'd sell him back to as well - which is cool.

Like I mentioned, family situation changed. I wound up going old, low and slow.

It's a '66 Beetle Sedan. Nothing super fancy, and with a mind-bending sub-100hp, I'm sure you can imagine the gut throbber it is.... Currently it's just lowered a bit and has some widened wheels in the back, as well as a couple cool accessories. I do have an under-the-lid t25 draw through turbo setup in the works for it though. The super low factory C/R of 7.5:1 will make for some high pressure numbers, and oddly enough these little motors are fairly stout as long as they arent setonating. I should be able to break that 100hp mark no problem. I know that sounds pitiful, but it's a 1400lb car, so I should be able to snag a mid/high 13 out of it here at elevation. BIG change - especially when you consider it has trouble hitting 65MPH as-is.... Still though, one of the funnest cars I've driven. It's also cool to see the other side of the car spectrum, by being more involved in the car show scene.

Anyway, just wanted to say hey.

....I'll be back.....someday!
