Anyone ever taken apart their fuel door cylinder? I've got to be missing something here. I've got the spring and lever off the back but can't figure out how to get the cylinder to even budge. I've got one sticky tumbler so its a pain to unlock and the cable for the lever needs fixed. It appears as though it just pulls straight out the back but no luck so far, couldn't find any thread on it either.

The stainless cover on the outside holds it all together.

You need to unfold it from over the back. Once this is done you can pull the barrel out. Might be worth getting a spare /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif. It's very difficult to get off without damaging the outer shell and even harder to re swage.

If your lock is sticking, try some graphite spray in the keyhole opening, as it lubricates them tumblers and what you are supposed to use on locks (not wd40, etc.). also, sometimes a worn key will give it a feeling of sticking, fwiw.

Take the whole lock to a locksmith, they will clean it in a ultrasonic bath over night, lube it, and it will be as good as new without having to ruin the chrome cover.

I did that to all the locks when i repainted the car, they charged me $40 and even threw in a new key cut from the key number so it was a perfect copy.

All my locks are silky smooth now.

Nearest locksmith that can do that is 2 hours away, if I had time I would take all mine down. I don't want to have to drive the talon for the time it'd take between picking them up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif
