This write up will show you how to depin the wires on the ECU plugs. It is a pretty simple and straight forward process.
The first step is to remove a plastic retainer that keeps the wires "locked in" the plug itself. It is a small black piece of plastic located between the upper and lower wires that is easily removed with a small needle nose pliers. Don't discard this piece as it holds both the upper and lower wires, so you will need to reinstall it once you are finished.
The plastic pin and the space where the pin itself is located are both very small, I ground down a small rivet to create a tool to get in there. Once you gently lift up the plastic pin, you can pull on the wire and remove it from the ECU plug.
This crude drawing shows where the tool needs to go. You will always be gently prying the plastic pin towards the center of the plug.
Here is the wire itself, you can see the square hole where the plastic pin sits and holds the wire in place.
