Got the car with ridiculous positive camber on the front.

I wasn't agreeing with riding around then installing the tired rods at a later time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And yes it just becomes an active toe setup. Nothing lines back up if you restart the alignment machine anyway Lmao.

im not sure on this but if the tierods arent connected then the back wheel will do whatever they want to do becuase nothing is stopping them? right..

Nope, it just becomes a DSM with active rear toe.

but when you back up doesn't it casue problems. i just dont understand how you can remove tie rod end(regardless of it being rear) and it wont let the wheel get crazy if nothing is locking, those tie rod ends, in place.

dsm rear trailing arms are identical to ours, they even have provisions for the tie rod ends, subframe lacks mounting points for rack & pump but the trailing arms have the same potential for movement. It's called "Passive toe" ours has active toe they have misnamed 4WS.

The car won't act wonky with the rack disconnected. I don't care for the feeling of my cars ass wiggling around so in addition to removing the rear steer I have welded up the passive toe, same thing as the j-racing kit does.

well then, i stand corrected, thank you for clearing all of that up i had no idea. still i wouldn't drive it around without them installed. if im paying for an alignment the shop is going to do it the way the manual tells them to do it. plain and simple, do it properly or ill go somewhere else. your paying for a service, not a partial service and then finish yourself. if its easy enough for someone who cant do an alignment to do themselves in there driveway, then the shop should be able to handle the job while its in the air on the lift just fine. especially if there informed/instructed on the process.

Sounds like a plan, haven't met up with any other GVR4 owners yet to talk about our woes.

If you have positive camber to a degree that it is easily visible, you could have other problems like a bent control arm.

I'd have the alignment checked before doing anything. Then post up the results. The mechanics *should* tell you if it is so far out of spec that they can't fix it or not.
