Hi Guys,
I have a galant super saloon with a 4g63 engine 1997cc year 2004. The car idles fine. Then when i drive it jerks for a while, drives fine and starts jerking again.
I had my fuel tank cleaned, fuel pump replaced, fuel filter replaced, fuel line cleaned, injectors cleaned, pressure on injectors works fine. Air flow meter replaced.
Ignition coils replaced, fuel pressure regular replaced with an adjustable one.
The car still keeps jerking.
No fault error from engine
I am a bit out of idea here how to fix it.
Is there an O2 sensor on those type of engine because i cant find it? Would an O2 sensor cause the car jerking?
I'm a bit desperate for solution here, please guys advise...

Cheers

Hi Rod, where is mru?

You seem to have covered many of the basic items. I know you mentioned there are no fault codes, but I would start looking for a wire harness issue anywhere associated with the basic engine sensor, like cam angle, crank angle, etc.

I don't think an O2 sensor would do this, but it is possible if the car is suddenly running very lean or very rich. Sounds more electrical in nature to me though.

Hi Iceman,

MRU - Mauritius /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thank you for your reply.

I was looking at the O2 as the fuel consumption increased, i am doing less mileage with a tank full.
Ive check power coming to sensors, fuse, they seems correct as per some electrical manuals downloaded over internet.

Its what i was thinking, electrical problem, might be sensors not getting right amount of power.

Or ECU is faulty.
Is there a way to check if it is the ECU that is faulty?

Regards

This is the wrong group to be honest. This forum covers the 1987-1992 shape 6th generation Galant VR-4 model specifically. You have the world-spec 8th generation Galant EA2A. Try ClubVR-4 or The Galant Centre.
