Looks like a well sorted car.

... I'll be watching this one!

Good luck with the sale.

(psssst, hey ktmrider, I know you're reading this

Talked to the owner on the phone for a bit.

Pretty saavy sounding chap.

Sounds like this car saw a lot of wrench time and its got a very sensible mod list.

... you know you need another 'nother one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif

... make an offer (including a dirt/dual purpose/enduro bike) and we'll go chase this one )

OMG you know me too well sir... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif

In another twist of fate my parents are going thru that area in two weeks WITH their truck ( street bike in the back ) and could likely tow it down. May definitely be worth some attention.

No negatives on the car? Is it good to make a 2000 mile drive?

Check the ebay ad, short answer is No.

I would like to think that it would make it, but as it has been sitting for two years I would recommend against it if you cannot afford a breakdown without spending a couple of days locally for shakedown. I drove 880/1k from south Florida to here a number of years ago, 2000+ miles is a lot of miles for something to go wrong (I had a minor breakdown in Kentucky and that car had been completely overhauled and had low-mileage everything -- and I had been daily driving it in Fort Lauderdale for 6mo prior). -- As I mentioned in the auction, brakes need to be bled at a minimum before it moves any significant distance under its own power, they were good when parked but need to be pumped to get a pedal now.

Man this is really getting interesting. I'm digging the non-sunroof body and some of my local DSM buddies are craving parts from 464. And my folks are fine with picking up the car next week and towing back to NM.

Flock I hate it when I gotta think so hard about things.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif

ktmrider, I will throw in a care package of Sturgis Coffee and Sturgis Beef Jerkey just for you and your folks. Sounds like you would give her a good home.

Mike,

I *may* be up there in the not to distant future myself on a separate deal, so I can also cover the transportation (and even temporary storage) if you need any help.

The owner sounds like a pretty cool cat, and he just wants to see the car go to a good home.

Even if all you do is sort it and find a good home for it down in your area, it would make for a good project for the abq folks.

... you've got an awesome group of folks down there with an excellent knowledge base, so I know it would turn out well.

That's weird, I bought 1284 Nile black in Sturgis back at the end of 2002. Good luck with sale.

By the way I can say that they don't use much salt out there. I doubt there is any, if not no rust on the chassis.

Ok my parents balked when pressed about transporting ( trailer and load worries ).

I'm still torn, doubly so now that a bid has been placed. Will see how I feel over the next few hours and go from there.
