My car came with a 5 lug swap and the brakes are horrible. Is there a way to get bigger brakes off a different car to work with the gvr4 with 1g 5 lug swap?

Stock brakes are actually pretty decent if you use good pads and rotors, as well as braided brake lines. Maybe your stuff is just worn out?

But yes, you can use bigger brakes as well with a 5-lug swap. Anything you can get for a DSM will work with our cars.

Stock VR4 Calipers are dual piston so you are aware, depending on caliper size you will need bigger wheels to clear them.

The factory braking set up is very good, as others implied, there's likely something actually wrong with your system, maintenance will bring it back up to spec.

unless while fitting a 5 lug swap they went down to single piston brakes?

It uses a outlander rotor and caliper bracket with a 2g caliper for the fronts. Suggested rim size with this set up is 17 inches, but some folks have run 16's with only a little grinding to the calipers.
