Autometer temp gauge maxed!

so i installed a temp gauge a couple weeks ago and finally got the car running yesterday, and the gauge maxes out as soon as it gets power.

i did some searching and i am going to try a 2nd ground wire. also might be no coolant submerging the sensor yet, still burping the coolant.

my wires are connected right.

its mounted on the thermostat housing

any help would be great!

The wires must be crossed or wrong if its a new gauge. If it's used it could be a bad gauge.

Your ground wire is messed up somehow. Track it back.

IF your wires are all good, then itsounds like a bad sensor or sending unit to me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

sensor is new, gauge is used.

Guaranteed it's the right sender? Did you buy them as a pair?

i bought a used gauge that was only mounted and it came with the new sender in package. i already had my temp gauge so i reused it and just installed the sender. i will switch them out tomorrow.

wrong sending unit... it should be the same brand as the gauge itself

they were the same gauge... i will test everything today
