anything special about a JDM engine?

On Craiglist found a car that has a JDM engine. Is this anything special? Its not the "RS" package ( I believe that is the reference with the 16g and 510's) since it has a chipped ecu to run 560 injectors.

Just wondering if this is any harder to support in the US?

Also is this engine a 6 bolt?

thanks in advance!

exactly the same core engine as per USDM, just has a CYCLONE dual runner inlet manifold, provisions for an oil cooler on the filter housing. Same 6 bolt crank, same rods, same pistons, same cams, same block etc.

Also it's the Evolution which has the 16G and 510cc injectors with the 'ECI MULTI' manifold, only some RS models are Evolution spec.

^ what he said.

my JDM core that I got way back was not an evo-spec motor, and was identical in almost every way to a USDM core (except for the intake manifold)

Even the Evo spec core engines are the same, only differences with the engine are the bolt ons such as the 16G turbo and 510cc injectors. The Evolution 'ECI MULTI' manifold is identical to the non-Evolution 'CYCLONE' manifold apart from the writing.

^^ what he said. Also the AFM/MAS on a VR-4 Evo has a different part number to all the non-Evo VR-4s, whether it makes any difference is anyone's guess.
