alternator heat shield

My car doesn't have a heat shield and the external wastegate/dump are very close to the alternator.

Should I get a heat shield or fab something up? If fabbing something up, does anyone have good directions and a list of exactly what I need to buy? I have never done anything like this.

Thanks!

I would recommend getting one. Our alternators really don't like heat. I mean all you really have to do is divert the hot air from the dump pipe away from the alternator.

For me this is what I plan to do.

1. Coat the exhaust manifold to reduce the heat and downpipe.
2. Wrap the downpipe.
3. Install a head shield between the alternator

From here, I would test the temperature before and after using a infrared temperature probe to see how much of a difference it makes.

Dump pipe is away from altenator. Should have clarified. Running a CF vented hood too.

Actually, my exhaust manifold has a heat shield but nothing below downstream of it does. Is anything else supposed to have a heatshield?

Do you have any plans on making the alternator heatshield? What would you make it of and how would you mount it?

Thanks
