Its been AWHILE since I did anything to the GVR4, but I have been able to start messing with it again.

I am kinda disappointed in myself that I didn't empty out the fuel a lot sooner but I can't change that now. I drained the fuel a few weeks ago and it was brown and smelled nasty. I proceeded to fill the tank with fresh fuel but soon noticed it was leaking.

Looked under and I guess at some point the original fuel filler hose from 1991 had to give up. Fortunately I bought a brand new OEM one a couple years ago.

I went ahead and wanted to check the fuel pump and found this which left me pretty disappointed in myself.

There was some fuel in the small sump the hanger sits in the tank. There is a little bit of surface rust inside the tank mostly concentrated in the sump area. At some point I will either have to find a better condition tank or remove this one and have it fully treated inside. As for the fuel hanger I am seeing my options which are either dry ice blast and re zinc coated, find a non rusted GVR4 fuel hanger or go with the RTM racing fuel pump hanger.

Same here...great to see OG's still have their GVR4's. Took a long break because of life and family, but finally back to messing the Galants again.

Some how though I ended up with more cars before we started having kids. o_O

I am going to try to update this build thread as I make progress, BUT I also am starting to document the build progress on my YouTube channel. I originally established this one primarily for our adventures since I have gotten into the Montero game several years ago. The channel has somewhat evolved to be not only that but also for my other projects, reviews, installs, maintenance and also our trips and adventures.

I recently put out a few videos of the GVR4 since the beginning of this year including the fuel issues that I discovered with the tank and filler hose. Here is the link to that video and feel free to subscribe to the channel. Thanks!
