Sorry to dissapoint anyone that was planning to come up on friday and see me run. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/uhh.gif I have a small "favor" type job to do in the afternoon that's likely going to run till 6:30pm and I won't be home untill maybe 7:45, so Im already going to miss dinner and best case be very late to the track (which means sitting in line at the gate and tech and getting only a couple runs in at best).

Friday nights are normally "family movie night" with my kids (boys 4 and 3), and I'v missed it 4 weeks in a row now due to 2 nights at Ithe dragstrip and 2 weddings. I really owe it to my kids to be home on friday night this week. Once my wife heard me mention that it's not going to rain tonight and Island should be open...she was all like "you had better just go tonight and be home for the boys on friday". She would have been real pissed had I ditched family time for car racing again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif

Oh, how annoyed and frustrated am I! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif

12.398 @ 110.08 1.675 6250 launch boost 24 to 19psi. mid 11's AF. WAY early 1-2 shift, spinning.
12.079 @ 111.76 1.573 6250 launch spun through first gear. added 2* of timing, leaned out fuel little
12.067 @ 112.59 1.639 5750 launch. some spin. leaned out fuel, Boost up to 26psi spike settle to 20
12.168 @ 111.81 1.655 5500 launch. still spinning.
12.023 @ 113.02 1.700 5500 launch. spun hard, early 1-2 shift. hammered rest of gear changes out of frustration
12.156 @ 113.09 1.727 5250 launch. WTF! spun. I even tried doing a burnout, but I think I didn't get all the water off.

Let Utah drive the car for a couple runs, he goes:
12.342 @ 111.98 1.719 Utah is a little rusty and lets off in first gear..."who knows" 1-2 lift shift.
12.15X @ 108 1.6xx Utah has the slip. decent 60' and good 1/8 mile. missfiring in 4th gear...suspect we are out of gas

I make one more pass:
12.828 @ 83mph 1.611 I dropped the launch rpm to 5000 and slipped the clutch alot off the line and it came out smooth but kinda weak. started popping in 3rd, so I let out. Definatly out of gas.

So, as you can imagine, Im not happy with a 12.02 when I was really expecting to nail an 11. Wed night BBQ at Island just has absolutely no track prep and I think I was the only car on slicks after 8pm. I might be double cursed as well, with the Phil Beers 12.0 14b curse and jinxing myself with the comment above about that last 25lb from the stock drivers seat.

Seriously, I just couldn't put two and two together tonight. My best ET comes on nearly the worst 60'. Seemed lowering the launch rpm and tire pressure (had the tires at about 14psi on the first few runs and steadly airing down to 10psi on the last runs) wasn't helping enough as the track condition just went away. Overall, I feel like I was chasing my tail the whole time.

On your final tune, if you can get that to hook a 1.5 like your used to 11.8s are in store. I wouldnt be disapointed in bad track prep. Look at this you gained some mph thats a good thing.

Yup, even with a crappy traction night, the car still went a solid 2 tenths/3mph faster than the average run last time. Last time it was mostly 12.2's and 12.3's @ 110mph This week it was 12.1 and 12.0 @ 113 average. So the car is faster 134lb lighter and the 7cm housing makes a bit more power.

Look at the pattern in your runs, you have you launch rpm higher and you spin but yield low 60' times. You lower the launch rpm and your 60' get slower. I found that 5750 was my sweet spot to getting 1.6s all day in my stock talon on drag radials. It looks like if you raise it back up to the 6000 mark you will get your decent 60's back. Your so close.

Hmmm. You can't be upset with those results even though you didn't get the desired goal. One night with decent track prep and you got it.

Less traction will get you more MPH on the top end. Great times and I know you will get to 11's.

Some cases that could be true, in Nates case im sure it was the extra timing he added and the fuel he took away. The 2 mph gain roughly equates to 15-20 hp.

Nate,

Are you running any extended map type modifications to the basic Jackel program? I inquired about the feasibility of this and they guys on the DSMap board kind-of shined me on. As I understand it most people hit load-row 12 at about 10psi and then you're on fixed timing and AFR from there up. I'm curious about your feeling on this and how it affects your tune.
