A/c still works mint in the white car but I assume it still has R12 as I see no evidence of it being converted. The interior is 9.5/10 because the steering wheel leather has slight wear from use and the suns rays.

I went through this same experience and it was my ECU. When you were messing around with the ecu I bet it moved something on the board. A lightly cracked solder joint or something could cause this. You have to dig through a wiring diagram to find out if the ECU is providing ground to the MPI...

Copper spray contains acetone which eats the sealant on the factory gasket. If you were to remove the sealant by Cleaning it and then sprayed with hylomar or copper in theory should work well.
