  3. FS: 1992 VR4 Indianapolis, In. 692/1000 **SOLD**

The scoop was for a top mount intercooler. That wasn't working great and I came across a Evo 9 cooler, so I installed that. The rally lights would be available for a cost. Cibie's are expensive and I plan to install those on another project. The bolt on light bar would be included if you...

  10. How's the cylinder look? Found the low comp culprit

  11. FS: Evo 9 Ohlins to fit GVR4

Not that I need to sell these, but I am willing to drop my price to $3000....
  12. Turbo Advice

I have been running one with stock internals for about 10,000 miles. I have the supporting mods, but like it was said above, just keep the boost levels down for now and grow into it!
  13. period correct aftermarket head units

No one has mentioned anything from Nakamichi? Anything in the Dragon line? AV-1 and AV-2 receivers from Nackamichi? Or a Sony CDX-C90 or C910?I bought a AV-2 very slightly used in 1993. I took me six months to pay for it, but it was well worth it.I have had 2 C90's and they are awesome...
  14. Anyone have any experience with the higher model "Cheap" coilovers?

I know that they are expensive, but I love my Ohlins. If you plan on keeping your car and driving it, they are well worth it!
  15. FS: 1992 VR4 Indianapolis, In. 692/1000 **SOLD**

Fighting the urge to part this thing out or build more power..... Someone please buy it to save me time and/or money!
  16. Painting my vr4

The color it left the factory.... Color changes cost a lot of money to do them correctly. Most of them are not done correctly and it devalues the car a bunch!
  17. #815 Restoration

Not sure if your keeping it and your thinking of changing the color? Bad bad idea......But if you like bad idea's. I painted mine W69 Dover white. Still a Mitsu color, just a generation ahead and they kept that color for a good 10+ years.
  18. just got done painting the #975

Quoting bmxr152: For the paint being splotchy. Its not the paint it called orange peel and i have not color sanded or buffed yet.Paint being splotchy does not have to do with orange peel. Has to do with spraying a metallic in single stage. You will never get that splotchy look out with...
  19. just got done painting the #975

Quoting LIV4PSI: There are very visible dents, the paint is splotchy all over the passenger side, the engine bay etc don't match now...I have nothing against people changing colors on these cars, rdomneck's looks great. I just think if you can't afford to do it right, leave it alone. And that...
  20. Best paint for hood?

Yeah...Don't worry about the heat from the engine. You only need to worry about high temp paint when your painting exhaust parts.
  21. Best paint for hood?

Look up SEM Hot Rod Black. Has very little shine and can be purchased in flat I believe!
  22. FS: 1992 VR4 Indianapolis, In. 692/1000 **SOLD**

Contemplating taken it autocrossing this weekend....
  23. Installed head with the cams 180 degrees out of phase.

If the cams are exactly 180 degrees out and the timing belt is on you should be able to rotate the crank 360 degree's and have the timing marks line up... The crank turns twice for every one turn of the cams!
  24. Installed head with the cams 180 degrees out of phase.

Quoting gtluke: If they are exactly facing down, they you are fine. Car will run fine. Just turn the crank 360deg and line the mark back up and the cams will line up again, this time facing up. The bottom end turns twice for every one rotation of the cams.^This^ Maybe I am thinking about...
  25. FS: 1992 VR4 Indianapolis, In. 692/1000 **SOLD**

Didn't make it into the garage this weekend, but I did wash it. I will get the oil return tube replaced and the hood repainted for the new owner. Pictures were taken tonight. 108,999 miles. Have had a little interest.... It's going back in the garage at home next weekend. Hopefully I don't start taking it apart!
  28. FS: Evo 9 Ohlins to fit GVR4

Quoting turbowop: I'd like to get a set of Ohlins, but I think for the same price, I'd go with these. Hard to beat new in box and Muellerized for the same price. I'm not trying to sh*t up the thread, but considering that this suspension is more to purchase than a running GVR4, I think they'd...
  29. FS: Evo 9 Ohlins to fit GVR4

I will add that if you drive your VR4 to me I will do the swap in my shop free of charge!
  30. clutch

I went with an Action Clutch and the pedal feel is much lighter than the Centerforce that I took out. Took about 25 miles to fully break it in which I didn't like, but once it was bedded in it's been a great clutch.
  31. End of the road for 205/1000?

Remember two things about auto restoration....1. Rust repair is the most expensive thing to repair on a car..... 2. Rust repair is the most expensive thing to repair on a car..........You will not find a mobile guy to come to your house to fabricate. To weld, yes. Most of your time will...
  32. FS: Evo 9 Ohlins to fit GVR4

I have my car for sale and have not had many bites on it. I would be willing to sell my shocks and springs with about 8000 miles on them. I would of course need a set of shocks and springs to put back on my car.$3500 seems fare with your shocks in on trade!I could even pull them off and...

Dropped price by $1000..... Someone buy this before I rip it apart for a bunch more HP.
  34. FS: 1992 VR4 Indianapolis, In. 692/1000 **SOLD**

Didn't get a chance to take any under body photo's this weekend. I did get a chance to drive it Sunday for the first time in a month...... Someone buy this before I pull it into the shop and do a full engine build. This thing is fun and wouldn't mind keeping it as a toy, with a lot more...
  35. Paint opinions

I run a business were I have a full paint shop that we do some restoration work. To do one correctly with all the disassembly and reassembly you will spend north of $7k with out much body work. It takes a lot of time to do one correctly. As a reference, a good paint job of the same color...
  36. Need input on some cylinders

I would run a hone thru them and check with a dial bore gauge. Just run the hone enough to take away that scoring. That is if you really can't feel it with your finger nail!
  37. FS: 1992 VR4 Indianapolis, In. 692/1000 **SOLD**

I will take some under body photo's this weekend. There is no rust on this car anywhere.
  38. Knock knock

I now own Gabor's car. I drove it 400 miles after purchasing it and the timing belt tensioner failed. When I took it apart I found that the balance shaft bearing had came out of it's bore. It was sort of a good thing that the timing belt tensioner failed ( or I think the bolt was loose )...
  39. Body seam sealer...

What ever you do, do not use the 3M Fast and Firm. The old version was great. The new version sucks! Anything SEM will serve you well and will be cheaper!
  40. FS:FT: md,91 galant vr4,holset hx35,built motor $5500

Price in the subject line would be nice.....
  41. Cut out the center section of the front bumper? Yes or no?

I trimmed out the black portion of mine. Left the body color pieces so you can't really tell it is cut open unless you look closely. I glued some stainless steel rods into the back side with some good body adhesive. If you look at it like this, there are 9 opening's I believe, cutting out 4...
  42. Buying a used trans... advice?

I can't see how you could spin a disc fast enough to give you any indication of how well one would shift.... You close to me and I have 3 transmission sitting on the shelf that need rebuilt. PM and we could discuss you getting one of these to rebuild while your driving on yours!
  43. paint color decisions

Don't do a color change unless you know what you are doing. You will devalue your car by a bunch. It takes hundreds of hours to do one correctly. I complete disassembly. Doors off, hood and trunk off, engine out, etc. When I did mine I counted 39 parts that I had to paint separate. It...
  44. FS: 1992 VR4 Indianapolis, In. 692/1000 **SOLD**

Thanks for the very kind words. You guys are making me feel like I should keep it! I will be doing some work on it this weekend. Fixing the oil leak, repairing the hood, etc. Just some little things that I can now take the time to fix knowing I don't have to drive it.I'm open to offers...
  45. Engine bay/ Suspension paint job opinions

It's pretty easy to get a quart of paint mixed up in your color code to do this correctly. Find any auto body supply business. Or find a body shop that will mix up some for you. Don't just go added sh*t together and hope that you come up with something that you think you will like. It will...
  46. FS: 1992 VR4 Indianapolis, In. 692/1000 **SOLD**

Well, I have purchased a new Cadillac and it's time to sell the VR4. I have a bunch invested like most of us do and I'm looking to recoup half of what I have put into this build over the last two years. I have offered the car back to the previous owner and he is going to let me know in the...

For sale is my 1995 20' enclosed Haulmark Race trailer. I have known this trailer since it was brand new and I purchased it from the original owner about 12 years ago. It is in great shape mechanically. Has good tires and good aluminum wheels. It has a ramp door as well as a door on the left...
