Markings on Transmission? Is it built? by who?

I know the history of his VR4 well and knew of some of the parts he got with the car when purchased.Turns out, that isn't the trans I thought it was. I have no idea what that particular stamping means - or the history of that trans.

Part 2 of my ecu problem

I can't help with most of your questions, but the wire is a jumper in place of a burnt/melted trace. Good sign that whichever ECU that is has been repaired before.I toasted my ECU when my ISC shortet out. I sent it off to the ECMLink guys, and they fixed it up. I now have two "jumper wires"...

Valve cover vent tube falls out

Yeah, I should probably know this, but don't - so here goes:What holds the 90 degree valve cover vent tube in the valve cover? Mine is now loose, and likes to vibrate out while driving, which tends to let oil blow all over the place when driving a bit "spirited".Do I just need to...

Cooked ECU - deep fried - with pics.

Got my ECU back from ECM Tuning today - all fixed up. They said it appeared to have actually been on fire - not just melted. I believe it based on the amount of smoke rolling out of the dash and the amount of soot on the board. They also installed an updated DSM Link Eprom for me that has all...

Cooked ECU - deep fried - with pics.

I emailed Tom Dorris from ECM Tuning, and am going to be shipping it off to them in the next couple days. From the pictures I sent him, he said it is close to, if not THE WORST he has seen the drivers burn up. He seemed optimistic that they can fix it.I have been toying with the idea of...

Cooked ECU - deep fried - with pics.

Thanks guys.A few more questions. I still have coolant going through my throttle body. Is it possible I finally got a leak that shorted the ISC and took the board out in this manner? Also, would a short at the battery cause this? I have a battery tender I keep on the car. There is...

Cooked ECU - deep fried - with pics.

Well, I was going to take my Galant to get inspected tomorrow. I uncovered it, cleaned it up a bit, and decided to take it around the block - considering it is the first time I have been in it in about six months. Well, about half way around the block, I heard the ECU "click", the check engine...

    Oem "Heavy" Leather Shift Knob

^^^ Same as yours: MR263906. Maybe it wasn't an EVO VIII knob, but that is what it was promoted as. I think it was donated as a prize by Mach V Motorsports, so it probably is the one someone linked above.

    Oem "Heavy" Leather Shift Knob

^^^ Sure, since my lazy a$$ still hasn't installed it, I just ran out to the garage, dug it out, and snapped a few pics of it.-edit - Upon looking at my pics, and the pics from the OP, it appears to be the same bag/description/knob.

    Oem "Heavy" Leather Shift Knob

I won an EVO VIII leather shift knob at the Valley Forge GVR-4 meet a couple years ago. It is a direct replacement and is much heavier then stock. Not sure on pricing, but might be another option too.

How often do you drive your GVR4?

For the first few years I owned my car (purchased in 1999 with 70K miles), I daily drove it. I put 20K+ per year on it and it was perfectly reliable. The middle years, it became a second car and I really only drove it like once per week and to play in on nice weekends. Now, it is my fourth...

Decided to take a few photos of the car.

Come on Rick - quit lying. You know you towed that bitch out there to take pictures. No way you actually drove it under it's own power.Seriously man, looking good. Glad to see it's finally coming together.

    Problem with new dealer key?

Also, lubricate the locks and ignition. Graphite powder is the best, but simply spraying WD-40 in the tumblers will work in a pinch. My new keys - way back when I bought the car - were very abrasive feeling in the tumblers too. Some shots of WD-40 in the cylinders smoothed it right out...
