  1. Yet another isc question...

Did you confirm that the ISC was good with your multi meter?
  2. Test ECU Injector Drivers

I had a 2nd ISC go out this weekend and I'm unsure how to determine if it took out the ECU driver. Is there a test I can do on the ECU to determine whether coil pair A and B are still good? The car is idle surging even with the ISC unplugged, so I'm leaning toward the ECU is fried again...
  3. FS: OEM 450cc and FIC 780cc injectors

Can you post a side angle picture of the FIC injectors showing the FIC logo and the scribed portion?
  4. Overheating

While I agree that replacing a head gasket "can" be a few hour job; while you've got it apart, why not replace other stuff. Front case, oil pump gears, BSEK, timing belt, tensioner, ARP head studs etc. Those few items will pretty much ensure that your car will run another 100k miles without...
  5. Hot Start Issues

Finally had time to remove the black ISC and see what it Ohm'd out at.Surprisingly, the entire thing was fried. Resistance was:Pin 1 & 2: 1.8 Ohms Pin 2 & 3: 0.4 Ohms Pin 4 & 5: 1.1 Ohms Pin 5 & 6: 1.0 OhmsNo coolant leaks anywhere near the ISC, so I've got no clue why it went out...
  6. Hot Start Issues

I replaced the ISC 2 years ago with the revised version because I was worried that the tan one would fry my ECU. Guess I'm sending the ECU to Tom/Dave to have it repaired. There were no coolant leaks at the TB that I'm aware of, but I'll crack everything open this weekend and see what I can...
  7. Hot Start Issues

Well, I figured out the problem. My ECU is fried. That explains the burning smell from 2 weeks ago when I went for an emissions inspection and the random hot start problems. From my searching, it looks like that's a blown ISC driver, which means my ISC is probably bad. Some days I hate...
  8. Hot Start Issues

I am running 91 UnleadedI was running ECMlink at the time and it was able to read the coolant tempThe FPS has been eliminated. The vacuum source for the FPR is coming off of the intake manifold. And how have you been? I rarely see you post.
  9. Hot Start Issues

Car starts great when the engine is cold. After the car warms up to operating temperature, if I shut it off, it will not restart unless I hold the accelerator to the floor. If I crank it for ~30 seconds with the accelerator to the floor it's hit and miss. Some of the time, it almost starts...
  10. FS: Hood Struts GVR4

Best mod I ever did to the car. It felt great to throw the old hood prop in the corner of the garage.I've had em installed for about 6 months now, but have always wondered how strong they were...Figuring that the struts were barely enough to handle the weight of the hood. I was most...
  11. New GVR4 Owner - Colorado

Bit of an update. After 4 years, the car finally completed the emissions inspection. The last 2 times I tried, something happened. 1st time, the battery died after I shut the car off and the inspection place refused to test it since they would have to keep jumping it every time it was shut...
  12. shop for turbo rebuilt

As long as your turbo fins look good, and if they don't need to be rebalanced, Justin on DSMtuners can do it...He does great work.
  13. New GVR4 Owner - Colorado

I forgot to mention. Knock sensor is brand new. I loosened it yesterday and it didn't make any difference. Will tighten it again and see if that helps.
  14. New GVR4 Owner - Colorado

Just got the new ECMlink cable and now am able to connect without issue (thanks again Yao). New problem is that I can max out the knock retard in every single gear at any engine speed. Even neutral, I can peg the knock counts by just revving the engine.Things I've tried: verified base timing...
  15. Colorado GVR4 owners! Meet!

Since nobody replied, I'm good to go anytime after July 20th.
  16. FS: 774/2000 Full partout (updated with more pics/parts)

Is the wire harness in good shape? Looking for the main harness that connects to the coolant neck.Or, if you're willing to sell just 1 connector, I'm looking for the connector that hooks to the AC cut-off switch. (The connector that hooks to the very top of the coolant neck)Also, how...
  17. New GVR4 Owner - Colorado

Was great meeting you as well. Thanks again for letting me hook up my ECU and DSMlink cable. Your car made me want to spend money.
  18. WTB: Drivers side sun visor

Looking for a drivers side sun visor with no tears, rips etc.
  19. Colorado GVR4 owners! Meet!

It's not that the car actually fails, it's that anytime I've made it to the emissions testing place, something goes wrong. 1st time, the person who could do a VIN check had gone home sick for the day, so they told me to come back the next day. Went back the next day, got the VIN check, but my...

  22. New GVR4 Owner - Colorado

Does anyone in CO have a V3 DSMlink cable I can borrow for about 5 minutes? For some reason, my DSMlink stopped connecting the other day and I want to see if I have a bad cable.

Quoting Spyke169: Quoting luis84one: Adaptors to make evo suspension a bolt on dealclickDoes this actually work on a GVR4? Link is for a 3s adapter.
  26. FS: Hood Struts GVR4

Ok. I'm an idiot. Once the guy (IIRC his name was Aaron?) told me I wouldn't be able to compress them by hand, I went ahead and installed em. Went on without much issue.Hardest part was getting them aligned so they wouldn't hit the fenders.
  27. FS: Hood Struts GVR4

Does anyone have the instructions for these? I lost mine and can't get the strut to move. It's locked at full extension and won't budge.

  29. balance shaft and front case removal w engine in car?

If you're going to pull the balance shafts, it's much, much easier to pull the engine. I did the entire BSEK install with the engine in the car and it was a major PITA! With all the stuff I removed, I could have spent another hour and just pulled the engine. It would have saved me a lot of...
  30. ??? how many 1992 Galant VR4 out of 1,000 is there left ????

    I've got 455/1000 in Colorado.
  31. Your Bad VR4 Story?

The GVR4 has been pretty uneventful so far - at least compared to my old 2G2G...OMG! 6 years and damn near $20,000 and the POS spun a bearing. Went through 3 mechanics, 2 engine builds, 1 engine fire, 3 turbos...All within 200 miles. After the 2G problems, I learned to never, ever pay a...
  32. Denver, Colorado...Success!!

Always nice to see fellow CO people helping each other out. I think I need to have ya'll over to scream and yell at me to give me motivation to finish putting 455 back together.
  33. MHI EVO III 16 G excessive side shaft play less than 4K miles?

Did you feed it unrestricted from the OFH? If so, I'd say that's the reason why you've got so much shaft play now.
  34. Colorado people do u want to get together for a meet?

I vote to do a nice cruise through the mountains in a snowstorm! Put that AWD and snow tires to work.
  35. Might be purchasing a VR4, any advice?

Quoting Racah15: edit: Dark Horse, I believe I have picked up some stuff from you before? I think we've met. I remember the screen name from the CODSM ForumsWe probably have. I used to have a 2G and I parted it out a couple years ago. So you may have driven up and bought some stuff from me.
  36. Might be purchasing a VR4, any advice?

Quoting Racah15: 6: Paint the car P26, Rally Red (Gorgeous color)I like everything on your list besides this step. Why not keep it the stock color?
  37. adding walbro and evo 560's with 16g

Quoting mtbmafia: If you don't have a 2g I'd look at picking one up from someone for cheap.Running a 2G MAF requires modifying the intake pipe to make it fit. If you run an EVO8 MAF, it fits the stock intake pipe without any modification. Not to mention that the EVO8 MAF works better and...

  43. Preventative maintenance tips, about to DD 1501

As for the stock oil cooler. Apply some blue threadlock and tighten the stud/bolt to 30 ft/lbs (IIRC). That will stop it from backing off and dumping oil everywhere.I'd also suggest replacing the alternator with a Saturn alternator. Requires a bit of grinding on the alt its self, but the...
  44. dsmlink v3

Since V3 supports speed density, in my opinion, there's no reason to run a GMAF anymore.
  45. Replacement Timing Belt - in North Jersey

Quoting mitsuturbo: Have fun with the two 14mm bolts on the underside of the intake manifold.I found it easiest to drop the transfer case & downpipe to get to those 2 bolts. T-case & downpipe only take 10 minutes to remove. You'd spend 10 minutes trying to figure out another way to get at...
  46. 1991 vr4 1810/2000 400hp budget build

Is your BOV recirculated? It looks like it is in the 1st pic of the engine bay, and in the 2nd, it looks like you capped off the return line.
  47. New GVR4 Owner - Colorado

It's been quite a while since I updated this thread. And I'll even update with pictures later tonight.A month ago, I was driving the car on the highway and it overheated. I thought I had shut it down in time, but from that day on, anytime I drove the car, it would push coolant into the...
  48. Reliable setup for 250-300 WHP

The more power you're putting down, the more stuff is going to break. If you need your car to be reliable, don't go crazy in a quest for horsepower.250WHP: DSMlink, injectors, Walbro 190, Exhauast/downpipe, intercooler, boost controller, clutch.
  49. Question on MAF

I'd either go with the EVO8 MAF, or ditch the MAF and run speed density. No reason to go the 2G or 3" GMAF route anymore IMO.
