  1. FS: Nib GAB Shocks & struts

I had a set of these for my 1G DSM, used them with Eibach pro-kit springs and they were a fantastic match for a street car on questionable ny roads. Handled the bumpy stuff without getting too unsettled but increased grip over the stock setup.
  2. Sold

Hey KC, if you still have them I'll take another of the Lenovo laptops -- my wife took over the last one I got! Let me know if you have one available and I'll paypal you.
  3. FS: SOLD

Thanks KC, this is great little machine. For anyone on the fence, these are well worth the price, fast machines that are really well built (business class stuff vs the cheapo consumer netbooks). Plus the included dock lets you easily hook up a monitor and keyboard.
  4. T/S/D night rally, 11/23 MtKisco NY

And TurboMike says that in all the years of posting these things here he's yet to see a GVR4 show up -- anyone out there still have one and plan to do this event?!
  5. let me know what im forgeting

Quoting mountaineerjeff: I am planning on just running down to the hardware store and getting some nice allen head bolts for the oil pan?Don't forget that several of them are shorter than the others and if you put them in the wrong place they will rub against the timing belt!
  6. FS: ground control coilover

I'm pretty sure this is a pic of the springs:Looks like Eibach 214498 GC 180.64.61Eibach 175911 GC 230.64.49For the GC number I believe the first number is length in mm, second is width/diameter in mm, and third is spring rate in N/mm If my calcs are correct:7 inch/2.5 inch/ 350 lb/in...
  7. FEELER:1630/2000 partout/project fairmont WV...1 Dubloon obo

sniff, sniff... Hope she goes to a good home instead of the crusher -- somebody buy this!
  8. Caps replacement, where to buy & socket

    Just to be clear, that "Â" shouldn't be there, the units should just be in microfarads "µF"47µF @ 50V (Digi-Key# P5570-ND) 22µF @ 50V (Digi-Key# P5568-ND) 100µF @ 25V (Digi-Key# P5540-ND)

  11. JSB Upgrade Guidance

Balance shaft removal Replace knock sensor
  12. Timing ground connector on a GVR4?

The fifth picture shows where the plug is on a GVR-4click
  13. Removing oil pan

5 bolts for the transfer case. Make sure you get them all.Make note that 2 of the oil pan bolts are shorter than the others. They need to go back in the same holes, the longer bolts will cut into the timing belt.
  14. Cooked ECU - deep fried - with pics.

I ordered a new IAC/ISC from rockauto.com and it was a Standard Motor Products one that actually had the embossed Mitsu logo so I'd guess it was OEM. Was about $75 and they usually have a 10% off coupon available.
  15. where is the plug to do base timing on 92 gvr4

Just for future reference, here's a pic from the vfaq:Quote: This is a pic from a GVR4, showing where this plug will be taped to a wiring loom near the center of the car at the firewall. The above is from this vfaq page: http://www.vfaq.com/mods/BISS-1G.html
  16. alternator?

The connector for the power steering pressure switch is one of those bullet connector (it just pushes onto the stud shaped fitting on the ps pump, labeled #1 in the first picture I posted). It doesn't connect to ground normally, ONLY when the pressure switch on the ps pump is activated then the...
  17. What Brake Rotors?

Is that listing for front Brembo GVR-4 rotors a new thing at tirerack.com? I seem to remember in the past that they were only available for the rears and non-turbo Galants?I think someone had received front Brembos when ordering from rockauto.com but I know when I ordered them they were made...
  18. alternator?

The ps wire is actually an on/off input to the ecu. I believe it's used to maintain a smooth rpm at idle when the power steering is being used. According to the this diagram (lower left corner) it looks to be a yellow wire and I'm pretty sure it comes out of the same bundle of wires as the...
  19. palm error

That ecu worked with the TMO datalogger (PC version) so it should be fine with the Mmcd. It was also rebuilt/isc-drivers-replaced/socketed (I think by Terry Posten) so it shouldn't have any cap leakage problems.I wonder if the cable you have is setup for a pc instead of a palmpilot? Two pins...
  20. alternator?

Low battery can cause a lot of bad ecu behavior, also, all the "learned" ecu settings have been erased from having the power disconnected. This is where the power steering switch connector goes:It's labeled as #1 in the picture.
  21. alternator?

Are you sure that's not the wire that goes to the power steering pump pressure switch? It has a small bullet connector on it?
  22. SOLD: 1991 Galant VR-4 Westchester County, NY $2500

Car has been sold. Thanks for all the interest and best of luck to the new owner. If anyone sees 1630/2000 driving from NY to W.Va wave to her for me!I miss her already, wish I had taken more pictures of her.Oh well, guess that gives me more garage space to go play with her younger sister:
  23. SOLD: 1991 Galant VR-4 Westchester County, NY $2500

  24. #761 Getting some lovin' PICS

Why'd the balance belt go? Seized balance shaft?
  25. Replacing power steering lines/tubes (NOT 4ws)

I ended up pulling the rack to replace those lines. You can lower the rack, but you have to disconnect the two lines (one rubber, one metal) at the top and the steering column input shaft. By the time you detach everything to lower the rack you might as well just remove it for service. At...
  26. Replacing power steering lines/tubes (NOT 4ws)

Yup, those lines. No way to just loosen the rack to replace the lines?
  27. Replacing power steering lines/tubes (NOT 4ws)

I've got a leak in the metal power steering lines/tubes that are attached to the rack. These are the two tubes that run from the drivers side to the passengers side along the rack. How do I go about replacing these? Access to the fittings on the drivers side looks pretty tight.I believe...

  30. Alignment specs

Are the castor bushing adjustable? I.e., can you rotate them to get balanced left/right values or do they only go on in one position and you get whatever they happen to be?
  31. NGK difference between BR7ES and BPR7ES

Yamaha uses the 8's on two-stroke street bikes. I think the 84-85 RZ350's came stock with BR8ES's with the 9's recommended for extended high rpm use?
  32. Evo suspension part 4 , 5 or 6 not sure where where at.

And now you're all set for using Evo coilovers (except for the cheap part)!
  33. iLLeffeKt vr-4

Great guy. Met me in downtown NYC to deliver the GC suspension parts! Thanks Adrian.
  34. Suspension (beating the dead horse)

I see Summit Racing has a set of HAL QA1's in 250-350lbs/in, in 10 or 11 inch free length. Maybe that would be a closer match?
  35. Suspension (beating the dead horse)

Quote: I've got that set up in now, as I was the one that picked up the GC set that Rice Killer sold. Al Grabau's installed them in the car now, so once I pick it up and drive it back to VT I'll post on my DD impressions of those spring rates. -Jim B. 1432/2000Jim, did you ever post a...
  36. Suspension (beating the dead horse)

Quote: I just bought a pair of QA1 progressive coilover springs from Summit for $100/pair. Cheaper than a set of linear AFCO springs, they are 10" free length & 2.5" ID. They are 225-475 lbs/inch. Part Number HAL-10-225-475. I've got my fingers crossed that they'll cure my overly stiff front...
  37. Which Aftermarket Downpipe do you use????

Does the Megan downpipe eliminate the cat (long pipe) or is the flange at the "correct" position for a cat or test pipe?
  38. 1990 Oil Filter Housing Question?

Their turbos *ARE* water cooled -- and they have an external oil cooler (not sure if that's more efficient than the coolant one on the later models).
  39. 1990 Oil Filter Housing Question?

I'd suspect that you want to make sure you upgrade the stock oil cooler if you do that. The oil is going to be responsible for handling a lot of extra heat that was dissipated through the radiator when the turbo was water cooled.
  40. Suspension (beating the dead horse)

Quote: 4. AGX stocks are a "Best Value" as long as you stay UNDER 200 lb/inch front springs and 150- 200 lb/inch rears. Coil-over springs should be free length of 10" F & 10 or 12" R, if you have threaded coilover perches.Bob, what do you suggest for coilover spring rates with AGX's? I...
  41. 89-92 and 93-94 DSM rear calipers?

Maybe they changed the pad compound? Organic vs metallic? Or some sort of EPA regs that forced them to change the compound?
  42. ECU temp sensor replacement.???

On my car it was the wiring to the temp sensor that was flaky. Every once in a while it would throw a code 21. Spliced in some fresh wire with spade connectors and it's been fine ever since. Symptoms were occasional CEL 21 and would be tough to start in very cold weather. Also, mine wasn't...

  47. Ball joint failure?

I used a plastic "cylinder" that I found at Home Depot. I think it was actually some sort of attachment for a whole house vacuum system. Just brought the dust boot to the store and looked around for sections of pipe that would just fit over the boot. I think it cost about a dollar and is made...
