  1. FS: Green Front bumper uncut $50

I have a decent condition bumper for sale. It is off a 91 and still has the steel bumper behind it. It's uncut and the only damage is a crack under the right fog light. I will ship if you pay for it. Not sure what freight is for it tho. I will post pics when I get a chance to. I just need it gone.
  2. FS: 1991 Galant VR4 1968/2000 Denver, CO SOLD

Yea, I just checked out the CL ad. Sucks for him to flip it like that. I hope it goes to someone can fix it up and appreciate. My garage was just getting too full. Maybe I will get another one down the road. We'll see.
  3. FS: 1991 Galant VR4 1968/2000 Denver, CO SOLD

$1600. I know it's pretty low, but I needed to move it quickly. Plus it had a clutch problem. I may buy another down the road. But I am going to start moving more into a rear drive platform since I have a 4wd truck for snow duty.

  13. Intermittent Engine Miss/Shutdown

I would check your intercooler piping. Sounds like you have a cracked coupling or something is loose.
  14. starter issues

Thanks, I will give that a shot in the morning. I hope it is just something simple like the starter and just exchange the one I have. I would think that the flywheel is designed in a way that the teeth from the starter gear and the flywheel mesh completely instead of just the tips, so that the...
  15. starter issues

Ok so I went back to the yard and grabbed a starter off a car with a manual. I saw there was a difference between the two. So I was certain that this was going to work. I got it installed and the car turned over slowly a few times and then began doing the same thing it was doing in the first...
  16. starter issues

That may be it. The car was an auto... but it does seem like the solenoid isn't engaging though it worked fine when I bench checked it with a battery. But I digress. I will go pick up the proper starter.
  17. starter issues

Ok, so I had to get a used starter from the junkyard. I pulled the starter off a 95 Sonata. I can here the starter whirring and it sounds like the teeth are scraping against the flywheel, but not engaging and turning the motor over. From the part number searching I've done, 4g63 6-bolts use the...
  18. starter issues

Ok, so my starter took a crap because the rear engine mount bolt worked its way out and jacked up the solenoid. I replaced it and now the car won't crank. Everything is hooked up properly and the battery is reconnected. Is there something simple that would cause this issue?
  19. ......and here we go again. DSM wiring gremlins

Agreed. The starter should have enough slack on the harness to allow for the unit to be removed then disconnected. I once did it in about 10 minutes in a parking lot. Also check to see if your grounds to you block and chassis are good. The alternator should be tested next.
  20. Quiet street muffler

These are some good options: click They sound good, and they aren't very loud. A buddy of mine has one on his 1g and it's quieter than my magnaflow (which isn't loud by any stretch)
  21. let me introduce myself

Ooooo, jump on that. It's always better to be able to bargain before they post!
  22. let me introduce myself

Welcome! Have you seen any decent vr4's for sale in your area?
  23. Stripped valve cover bolts.

I have a similar issue on my car. I plan to replace all the bolts with studs. Hat way you have ample clamping force with a smaller chancre of pulling threads out with the bolt when you remove the vc.
  24. 3KGT VR4 brake upgrade brackets!

Quoting EMX5636: SS brake lines aren't included for the $100, but still a good deal and another option. Thanks!Good point, I just saw that. But this has me excited as I have a nice set of 1st gen calipers freshly rebuilt with a nice red powder coat finish. So I will be opting for the...
  25. 3KGT VR4 brake upgrade brackets!

I was surfing my local craigslist and I found an interesting link. For all those that tried to buy the Tunersnation units before they went belly up, I have found a better option for a better price. For $100 you get the adapter brackets, bolts, washers, shims and even stainless braided brake...
  26. Catch can

So basically in a turbo set up, it only works well if it has a vacuum source to draw the oil rich air into the can. Makes sense, I wonder what difference this will make...
  27. GSX_TC's Galant VR4 Build Thread #550/2000 (Samara)

Perhaps get a good nights sleep, then check it over backwards, like proof reading. It sounds like this car is gonna be quite an animal... Good luck Mike! So I bet we will see a bunch of engine pics from you rather than hard parking ones lol. Keep it up!
  28. GSX_TC's Galant VR4 Build Thread #550/2000 (Samara)

Too many new parts, too little time. I know it would be kick ass to get all these goodies in your car prior to the shootout, but would you have enough time to get a proper shakedown to make it reliable so you aren't junking a lot of quality parts? You are a brave soul... I have the same...
  29. Catch can

In most of the examples in the link you provided, it shows multiple catch cans. I have a JB fab catch can with a breather on top. Would it be necessary to hook to some vac source in order to maximize it's use? I used a hollowed out pcv in the stock location to one side of the breather, and...
  30. GSX_TC's Galant VR4 Build Thread #550/2000 (Samara)

Nice work dude. What's the stuff on the bottom of the hood there?
  31. High Idle

I was starting to think along those lines as well. But would it idle that high? I am going to look into blocking that. Would it suffice to do the valve turn like in the how to section? Or should I completely remove it?
  32. High Idle

Sorry for adding another thread on idle problems, but the search function doesn't work at my job. I recently have done a lot of work to my motor, including rebuilding the bottom end because of a spun bearing . Now I have it back together and it is running well all except for the idle. It...
  33. Looking for a Clutch kits under $300 what are good options.

  38. Starter damage and a host of other problems. HELP PLEASE!!

Okay I gave the cars a once over and found sound loose tranny bolts. Yikes So that sorted the starter problem as well. I also go the timing belt a tightening and the car is running much smoother. Now the idle is borderline ridiculous. It jumps from 1500 rpm cold to about 2500 rpm when it...
  39. Starter damage and a host of other problems. HELP PLEASE!!

The motor was running normal (other than the rod knock) when I took it out. There is a bit of slack between the cam gears. That's all I have accessible at the moment. I will give the car a once over to make sure I have all the tranny bolts installed. And I do have the starter plate on there. I...
  40. Starter damage and a host of other problems. HELP PLEASE!!

Okay, I just dropped the engine back into 1968 and I am having some serious issues. First the engine sounds like it's running pretty rough. The reason I pulled it was I had a spun bearing on the #4 rod bearing. I changed out all rod and main bearings and the crank. I replaced all the seals on...
  41. GVR4 A/C tensioner

There is an expansion valve on rockauto.com. Is that what you are looking for?

  44. Need help with a quickness *Update as of 2 July*

^This is why I enjoy this board. OP you should take him up on this offer and get the car sorted before embarking on a cross country trip. It will be a lot less of a headache to get the car looked over by experience and willing eyes than it is to call a tow truck that will only pick up the nose...
  45. turbo fun

Take a look to see if you tweaked the oil feed line, maybe you cracked trying to get the hot side off. I feed from the ofh with a restrictor with no problems. If you wanna avoid the ass pain and wait a few days for mail, I can hook you up with a 7cm hot side on the cheap. LMK

  47. New Guy From Colorado

  48. VR4 newb

This is true. I have gotten so frustrated with this car when it hard breaks but end up liking it more once I get it back working. It got so bad lately that I considered selling it a few weeks ago, but here I am again buying more parts to make it a little nicer. It is a cycle for me.
  49. T-belt tensioner weeping a bit oil
