Mirageman, can you just imagine the questions I would get about doing the reverse swap that everyone else nornally does? HahahaFor the interested parties: there is a board member that was faster than everyone else. If he backs out I will let you all know. Thanks!

  14. Do I need stock o2?

I think the best solution would be to put in a stock oxygen sensor for now and upgrade to version 3 for $195 when you can.
  15. top oil feed line replacement

AN lines fail for all the same reasons OE lines fail: improper installation, holes due to rub through and crimping.
  16. hella horns

How did you wire it in? If it is a simple two wire horn then all you would have needed to do was use the OE wires from the OE horn.
  17. top oil feed line replacement

You could go a cheaper route and buy new copper crush washers. Keep in mind those banjo bolts are weak and can be broken or cracked by overtightening them.
  18. Steering Wheels? Watcha Got?

Deep dished steering wheels feel best in these cars in my opinion. I have had a dished OMP and a flat MOMO like what is pictured above in the white VR4. The dished OMP was much better to drive with; fingers didn't hit on the stalks and I didn't feel like I was stretching to reach the wheel.
  19. Phantom Knock

Phantom knock does not definitely mean that you have piston slap or a bad bearing of any kind. Can be due to a wide variety of reasons other than mechanical problems in the reciprocating assembly. The target AFR in the stock ECU table is 10.1:1 under WOT and above somewhere around 3k RPM. So...
  20. Painting over carbon fiber...

Finished carbon fiber pieces are usually smooth and do not have any texture from the weave. I have never seen a piece that had texture from the fibers.
  21. Found in scrap yard #?/1000

They would with this car since it was not a confiscation by the city. It would not ahve come with a title and I would have had to sign a notarized document stating I would not attempt to contact the previous owner to transfer ownership or attempt to license the vehicle. They also wanted an...
  22. Some help figuring out what this turbo is: T04E O-trim 67mm

I found some measurements on DSM tuners ASSUMING you have the same turbo: Inducer 72.4mm, Exducer 88.9mm, Turbine 76.2mm. A Garrett journal bearing GT4088 has an ID of 64.7mm and ED of 88mm with a turbine size of 77mm. Your comp wheel is slightly bigger with a comparable turbine wheel. If the...
  23. Painting over carbon fiber...

I would rather the weave show through. I am no fan of unpainted carbon fiber but it is neat when the panel is painted and you can see the weave.
  24. Painting over carbon fiber...

Will the weave show through when using a primer first? I would expect the primer to cover up the weave.
  25. Found in scrap yard #?/1000

Quoting 1qkfwd: I would pay more for a car like that. You may never find another one like it.But you are an enthusiast. When you deal with insurance companies the standard procedure is to base pay-out and value figures NOT on what an enthusiast of a certain vehicle would pay, but on what...
  26. Found in scrap yard #?/1000

Quoting CSMShaun: Went to pull parts from this car and found it sitting in the crunch pile already smashed.quote]Not available. Car was crushed.
  27. Lousy customer service

Shipping items that have paid for in a timely and correct manner does have to do with reputation and quality. Unless you overnighted the banker's check on a weekend you know it was there the next day. MAYBE the day after.
  28. Found in scrap yard #?/1000

Nope. For whatever reason these cars hold no value. I have the original sales receipt from my GVR4 and in 1991 it was bought new for less than $19,000. Depreciation over the course of 20 years coupled with milage in excess of 150,000 and you have a $1,500 car according to Kelly Blue Book if it...
  29. Found in scrap yard #?/1000

Went to pull parts from this car and found it sitting in the crunch pile already smashed. I am sure this was done intentionally as it was the only car from the area in which it had been placed that was taken to the crusher. It had also only been sitting for less than a month. Of course the guys...
  30. some simple questions

Are you running the GM MAF with ECMLink? The ECMLink wiki suggests 8" from the throttle body plate. But that would not necessarily matter if you are not running Link, or even if you are.I have been told by tuning "pros" that the wideband needs to be a variety of distances away from the turbo...
  31. evo suspension question

Unless the roads you drive on are severely bumpy or you plan on jumping the car you will have no problem with springs that do not fully extend the struts. One issue you may run into though with springs that are already short is bottoming the struts on harsh bumps.
  32. pinhole fuel leak repair question

The hard line that protrudes through the bulkhead correct? You could remove the bulkhead, remove any gasoline, then braze/solder the hole shut. If the line is already that corroded it will probably leak again sometime soon.
  33. wheel fitment question

Quoting brunoboy: Plastic? you mean Hub Centric Rings? That would be exactly what I was referring to. I was severely hung-over...
  34. wheel fitment question

I do not know the offset. Cannot measure it at the moment either. Sorry man.
  35. Help! Car won't start after installing a 1g tranny.

Are you having any other odd electrical problems?
  36. wheel fitment question

I have 17" Kosei K1's with 235/45 17 tires and they fit fine. I do have plastic hub spacers though.
  37. Methanol as a primary fuel

For racing or for driving about? Shep ran meth on his last setup and didn't even run an intercooler.
  38. engine building question

Contact the manufacturer of your rings or pistons and see what they suggest. Various builders will give different answers but the manufacturer will tell you what they recommend.
  39. Found in scrap yard #?/1000

The tail lights are in perfect condition with zero fading or cracks. Those, however, are going on my '91 BG. Sorry man!
  40. where i can find or buy the 5 plug conversion?

I fully agree that I have partaken in the ruining of this thread. My apologies for inciting so much needless debate.
  41. Found in scrap yard #?/1000

PM me the items you guys want.
  42. where i can find or buy the 5 plug conversion?

Quoting brandonechols: "I don't consider the 5-lug swap difficult...if you can't figure it out from the threads here + the VFAQ, then you probably shouldn't own a GVR4."I do not consider it difficult either. But this is your opinion and is an assumption that the OP has the experience and...
  43. Need help figuring out which connector this is???

Correct the car would not start without the wire I previously described. The wire that serves the Idle Switch is bundled in with the ISC Motor wiring and would have had to be modified to be down by the transmission. The starter solenoid wire, however, is found in the exact location he described...
  44. Found in scrap yard #?/1000

I will make an honest attempt at getting the parts you guys have requested and you can just reimburse me plus pay shipping and all will be good.
  45. Need help figuring out which connector this is???

I am almost 100% sure that connector is for the starter solenoid. There should be a female connector with the same color wire that connects to the starter somewhere....
  46. where i can find or buy the 5 plug conversion?

Yes it is helpful for someone that does not have the experience, tools, or desire to disassemble their drivetrain. The link to the eBay item was a means to show the original poster what I was referring to. It is neither cutting corners nor idiotic to use wheel adapters.
  47. Found in scrap yard #?/1000

Agreed. The interior was in very good condition too. I will be buying the headliner and head lights with my next paycheck.
