  1. FS: 1992 Eclipse GSX 6/4, Pemberton, NJ $2,950

Still for sale. I cannot guarantee how soon we are moving out west, but local pickup, or delivery is always an option. I'm very central to parts of DE, NY and PA and am willing to meet an hour or so closer if need be. Thanks!
  2. FS: 1992 Eclipse GSX 6/4, Pemberton, NJ $2,950

The reason for sale is that we are planning a move out west to take care of a loved one. Any serious buyer with a cash deposit and cash on hand for purchase, I can arrange to deliver within reasonable distance from I-70/76 or I-80 towards Topeka, KS for free. Clean and clear title in hand.We...
  3. FS: 1992 Eclipse GSX 6/4, Pemberton, NJ $2,950

Yes I do. No pictures of undercarriage, but I promise it is clean. It has only seen a couple of drives in Jersey winter. I'll see if I can get some later on.Engine bay: In the picture, the 2g exhaust manifold is missing nuts/studs. I have since replaced all but one stud since it was in...
  4. FS: 1992 Eclipse GSX 6/4, Pemberton, NJ $2,950

I am sorry about that, I assume you were referring to posting the asking price in the title, and I have corrected it. If it's anything else, please let me know and I will correct it. Thanks!
  5. FS: 1992 Eclipse GSX 6/4, Pemberton, NJ $2,950

Selling my '92 Eclipse GSX in great condition for it's age. It is a Florida car (all but the past 5-months), and absolutely zero undercarriage rust. Driven in snow/salt only once and pressure washed the next day.Current, valid and authentic NJ State Inspection good until 4/2013!6-Bolt...
  6. Anyone ever install a trunk popper on their Galant VR4?

I installed a DEI unit to go with my Avital Remote-Start in my old VR-4. It worked great with the remote. I never got around to installing the button inside since my lever always worked fine.
  7. coolant hose for the civic radiator

I used a stock 1g hose trimmed down slightly. The VR-4 hose just didn't seem to fit right.
  8. Noise/rattle from gauges?

The only moving part is for the speedometer that comes from the transmission. On my DSM, mine makes noise when it's really cold outside. It's more of a clicking noise than a rattle. I'm going to try pulling my gauge cluster out and greasing the inside to see if it goes away. Should be a...
  9. First time GVR4 owner 965/2000 (3xdsm owner) :)

Awesome to see the progress so far! I was beginning to wonder if 965 would ever run and felt guilty every time I turned the key on 145 watching her sit since I didn't have the time.I'm following this thread! Hopefully before soon we'll see a vid of you ripping down the street!
  10. GVR4 newb!! 175/2000

Welcome Dan! Glad to see she is in good hands still.Oh, BTW, it is 145/2000.
  11. FS: Summit White 1991 GVR4 965/2000- $800 Charleston S.C.

These should help. This is how it looked over a year ago when I had it, just with different wheels. I would assume it's relatively unchanged still.
  12. Should i save 965/2000? anybody remember this car?

I owned 965/2000 January to July last year. My plans were for a full drag build, but I lost interest and never got started, 145/2k was bought at the same time, and it was the more promising one to build up between the two.965 has changed hands alot over the last several years. From what I...
  13. This dont look right to me....

Did you say you are running the stock rear mount (probably shot), and not the Prothane?I had the exact problem, I replaced my two sides and front mount with Prothanes, and the driveshaft sat at that angle. It vibrated very badly upon accel. as well. Turns out it was the rear stock mount...
  14. Coil Packs and Dwell Time

I have an automotive genius friend attempting the same thing with the two ignitors for his COP setup, 300m coils as well, IIRC. Will definitely update here if I hear any specific results from him. He is also planning some type of heatsink to keep them cool from what I understand.I'm...
  15. 1g and gvr4 throttle cable?

I swapped my cables, when I did actually have cruise with the cables from a '94 N/T Eclipse GS, and compared them, both were identical, both the one to the cruise box and the one to the throttle body.I later swapped it with a non-cruise throttle cable, and that worked just fine as well. The...
  16. ACT 2600 Garbage

I've had similar experience with an XTD 6-puck sprung. I won't lie and say it wasn't launched a few times, but I feel a 6-puck should be able to hold up some.I've heard alot of similar cases with ACT too, from what I understand, their quality has declined greatly over the past few years.
  17. Bearing choices

I see no reason ACL tri-metal (same as race I think?) will not hold up. That's what most seem to be using. If there is anything better out there, I would love to know, but I'm not sure that there really is.
  18. 6 cm^2 or 7cm^2 housing for 14b...

I 7cm^2 housing can help a 14b quite a bit, especially by porting the manifold out to 7cm as well. You will sacrifice a few hundred RPM on spool, but will pick up a lot up top where the 14b usually falls flat on it's face. Provided you have the fuel for it, you should pull hard all the way...
  19. fuel pressure regulator solenoid

Nope, it is for Hot-start purposes. It bumps up the fuel pressure to help start the engine back up when it is warm. It has something to do with gas vapors that build up in the lines, fuel rail, etc., that can in theory make a hot-start difficult. By bumping up the fuel pressure temporarily...
  20. What is too hot?

200 seems pretty realistic. Even on our cars and DSM's, 195 is sometimes too much to ask.The mistake many seem to make is using a lower than stock (160-degree for example), or poor thermostat. By having a thermostat that opens at just 160-degrees, or 170 or so, the purpose of having a...
  21. What is too hot?

There is a big difference between what is normal and what is the limit.I would not feel comfortable with a touch over 230, although a head can safely survive under the 250 range.Anything under 220 should not be considered overheating provided the cooling system is doing it's job. Both the...
  22. My GVR4 Suddenly Not Boosting PAST 10PSI!! Any suggestions???

Evo III 16g GT?!? This is an Ebay knock-off, or did you phrase that wrong? If it is an E-bay WGA, that would say lots. You never know what tolerances they are built to, or what vacuum or boost would come into play to make them work properly, or at all, or...I almost guarantee that is the...
  23. OK who is this

That's a launch on the VR-4's part. When I raced mine, I revved to 4,5k at the first double yellow, but yes, he was late and still spanked the Z. I would love to see a real launch on time.I'm pretty sure I did post this here, but just in case, this is #145 in action against a 'stang, my...
  24. Are you running only one fan? *step inside*

There are many factors, heat and humidity both come into play. Also keep in mind a pusher fan will never be as productive as a puller, and the A/C fan, even re-wired will not push the CFM that the stock main fan will. With that said, we are lucky enough to have a large frontal area for air to...
  25. 504/2000 Restoration project and 2 other VR4. Why do I love these cars!!

Quoting 381gvr4: Looks awesome!!! The condition based on the pics look to be outstanding!!! The rear subframe looked pretty good for its age and looks sick now!!! Was this a original FL car???Welcome back Mr. Dole!!!It does look good, especially for a New York car. Nice.
  26. Alternator Issues

That, and that Autozone and Advance Alternators are absolute garbage. They are remanufacured units, and not re-manned very well at all. I've had and heard of bad luck with them across the board. Not only in VR-4's/DSM's, but in my sister's Maxima as well, none have worked well for more than a...
  27. Is this too much timing?????

Where you mentioned .3 volts, you're referring to the front O2 sensor, if I understand that right? The front O2 (not the wideband), should cycle anywhere from around .2 to .8 or higher depending on AFR. If it is staying put at a certain voltage, or reading something like .2 volts at all time...
  28. 1667/2000 got New rings, Paint, New Tranny

What type of coating is on the tranny, it looks great!
  29. #1900 - 'GOLFBALL' build - 2.4-AUTO-NITROUS.... Street car?

I'm curious. All that crap in the valve cover, is it powder coating, or is it from sandblasting, or both? Did the powder coater or sandblaster not take proper precautions to keep the crud out of the inside? Also, I was wondering if you plan to put the inner panel back in (or fab a new one)...
  30. Is this too much timing?????

If you're only getting that small amount of knock with that much timing, you're good to go, IMO.Turbo 1g and Galant ECUs have a very aggressive timing ramp. The only way the timing will be pulled back is if more than 5 counts of knock are present and it starts off with 1 degree pulled working...
  31. 1893 is down. again.

Is that a Topline front case? It is typical for the internal pump gear to eat into the rough inside casting on the pump and cause what you described. That looks like what happened perhaps.
  32. ATTENTION: Evo Owners....

Quoting EvoEight05: Ok well I've read about half this thread and I have to say it seems a little bias. I've never driven a GVR-4 but I did own a 1994 Talon tsi and my Evo is hands down better then the Talon, don't get me wrong I would love a GVR-4 but as a secondary car.A laundry list of flaws...
  33. ATTENTION: Evo Owners....

I love my Galant, and always got more looks, waved down in traffic, thumbs up, etc., than I ever would with an Evo. To me Evo's are dime a dozen, in that you see them everywhere, at least I do in my neck of the woods, and almost always the same mods done. They are almost like the SRT-4's of the...
  34. Does this constitute

Very true. So much built up grease, oil and dirt on mine, it seems like half the time is spent cleaning, the other 1/4 with beer and pizza, and the other 1/4 actually doing real work. LOL. I guess the other 110% would be spent coming up with parts money. It's funny when it comes to cleaning...
  35. Does this constitute

LOL! It's all in the baby steps. Sometimes getting out and doing a couple simple things to #145 gives me some motivation the following day to get out and do some more. Whatever works!
  36. Tear down and rebuild of MadBeachDSM's #145/2000

I forgot to add as well, considering the fact that I will be going with a built tranny in the future. Thinking about how poorly even the best clear-coated paint holds up when it comes to banging a tranny, or anything hard and blunt against it, I'm eyeballing the frame-rails on either side. Not...
  37. Tear down and rebuild of MadBeachDSM's #145/2000

Quoting broxma: I took a large section of my radiator support out with a dremel which was a total blast. What sucks is now my new pipes won't be using the same route so it was all for not. Chances are I'll be doing the pipe setup/IC next weekend, maybe even the new turbo setup if things work out...
  38. Tear down and rebuild of MadBeachDSM's #145/2000

Oh, and I think I may have to halt the painting on the front half of the bay. I really need to get an angle grinder to cut some of the radiator support area, and still planning something under the stock battery spot so I can bring some cool air into the intake, so pretty much a custom air box...
  39. Tear down and rebuild of MadBeachDSM's #145/2000

Thank you for the kind words! I feel painting the bay is necessary always. It works out well, since I'm going to be waiting to get my block back from the machine shop, and on my head anyway. Anyone pulling their motor out usually has free time in between, so why not make use of it.I'm...
  40. Tear down and rebuild of MadBeachDSM's #145/2000

Ahh, finally some progress to share after a long 7-days with nothing done which seemed like an eternity.Engine bay is primed and almost ready for a base coat. I'm glad to see it all white without all the scratches, dirt and grease.I should be dropping my head off with...
  41. What is the purpose / use of your vr4?????

Give's the term "money burning a hole in my pocket" a whole new meaning. Sometimes I feel like mine is a magnet and my money is magnetic. Money flying out of my pocket and I don't know why. And I thought wives were bad. LOL.
  42. #139 - 14b dragstrip results <- Updated

That's impressive! 14b @ 26 psi FTW! I would think you would lose alot at around 20 from the 14b, it's amazing the difference a good intercooler can make. Nice runs!
  43. Tear down and rebuild of MadBeachDSM's #145/2000

Thank God it's Saturday! Finally had a chance to get some good work in. I decided to go ahead and finish re-coating the rest of the sub-frame pieces.Couple little runs, no biggie. I'll go back through and color-sand once it cures, buff it out a bit. Should look great in the...
  44. Boost problem

Pre-turbo exhaust leak? Cracked manifolds are very common. I have one myself, and I don't hit a full 10psi until around 4k, but it does pull hard to redline which leads me to believe you may have a combination of issues. The first could be a leak, the second could be the knock sensor going...
  45. 2500+ RPM, clutch in, car dies...Alternator?

I've had two alternators die in my Galant until I wised up and went with a used OEM unit, so far so good. Could be your issue, or some of it. With a voltmeter hooked up and a rev, you can easily tell if your voltage is dropping or steadily rising. Even with a good battery and a bad...
  46. Tear down and rebuild of MadBeachDSM's #145/2000

Oooh! I love new parts. I can't wait to have the head done.1mm oversize intake valves, standard exhaust valves, all stainless. Not much more progress to add unfortunately. It's been a very long week.
  47. coil pack headache

The second diagram from the OP makes sense, why it will only run that way, is what doesn't make sense. In a wasted spark system, and the way the stock ignition system works, and considering piston position and firing order, cylinders 1 and 3 fire at the same time and 2 and 4 fire at the same...
