  8. Finally done with the build of 1180. (With dyno numbers)

Someone has successfully mounted a turbo facing the driver's side. Let the Evo 8/9 turbo swaps begin.
  9. biggest turbo on stock exhaust manifold?

If your friend blew his turbo seals on his first dyno run it's very likely he didn't prime the oil system properly before starting it up for the first time.
  10. Replacement VR4 inside with pics

Looking good sir, let's get going on this 16g setup for this car
  11. FS: White iPad 2 (32 gb, wifi only)

No, that is the price for one iPad shipped. I will change the asking price accordingly. The retail cost is $650 including tax, that's before Paypal fees and shipping.
  12. FS: White iPad 2 (32 gb, wifi only)

I have two white 32 gb iPad 2's (wifi only) available. I was going to send them to my aunt in HK but plans have changed. These are both sealed and are completely new. I'm pretty sure there's still a shortage out there, and most people have to wait in line before the store even opens. I am asking...
  13. OEM Gasket Material

Just to clarify, I'm not trying to make off a one-off gasket that RTV or normal parts store material could work for. I'm hoping to get a considerable quantity of gaskets made, and just need to find a material that is similar enough to the OEM material. Can anyone confirm that the material is in...
  14. OEM Gasket Material

Hey guys,Just wondering if anyone knows what kind of material OEM Mitsubishi gaskets are made of? I'm talking about the speckled green looking material. Also, does anyone know where I could purchase similar or equivalent gasket material in bulk? Thanks in advance.

  16. Project Thread: 46/1000 - UPDATED 5/5/11 - Budget Shortfalls...

Quoting fuel: hey mate that VR-4 is looking awesome! just a quick question (to anyone who knows) - that throttlebody elbow what is it off and what are the internal dimensions compared to a stock GVR-4 unit?Cheers!Should be 2.5" if I recall correctly.
  17. Some CF pieces to think about...with pictures

Awesome work Garfield, especially on those end caps. I was going to try to get a batch reproduced since Paul helped me find a set of JDM fogs in HK this summer, but I like the CF alternative much better. The galantvr4.org community is saved, and now I can sleep much better at night.
  18. SS Braided Fuel Feed Line

Looking really good Garfield. Any idea on pricing with the various options? I'm going to be looking into getting an afpr setup before I go E85 this winter.
  19. 372/1000 build thread

Nice looking build so far Eric. You're going a long way into showing that us younger guys can build clean vr4's too
  20. 2010 4G63 Motor Build

Actually, when this build is completed, it will promptly be swapped into my VR4, he just doesn't know it yet.
  21. Just the battery? ... sorted!!!

No! Not the butt sekz! But I will help you replace the battery/alternator or whatever is acting up.
  22. valve spring compressor

Quoting MMCVR4: Here is a nice tool for that, but their website is currently down. Vid - click Site - clickI've had a lot of success using this tool. True, you can make a tool for about half the price as this one, but this one has a certain consistency factor with it. You don't have to...
  23. pump93 vs E85 - back to back - dragstrip results #139 w/ 14b

Sorry to hear about the turbo. Good to hear that my ECMlink is going to some good use instead of just sitting on my shelf collecting dust!
  24. Premature Boost?

Hitting fuel cut has nothing to do with replacing your fuel pump. Fuel cut is a safety feature of the ECU designed to prevent you from running too lean. Also, boost leaks can cause you to hit fuel cut sooner than is normal.
  25. Problem with Transmission engagement

I can count four more cars that will soon be posting threads titled "Problem with TRE".
  26. SOLD: My 1jzgte powered Montero/Raider (located in MA)

I agree, 100% bad ass. GLWS.
  27. What is the purpose / use of your vr4?????

My Galant has been retired to 10 year project/will never be done category.
  28. 46/1000 Appraisal Thread? Just Curious As To What It's Worth

Quoting turbowop: Didn't you buy this car pretty much the way it is now? What did you pay for it? There's your appraisal.I don't even care how much my car is worth. Too many years of my blood and tears spent on the POS, which is worth more than the car itself, IMO. That, and people are too...
  29. 12:54 - Restate my assumptions

I say go for it. At the end of the day, not everything is about having the most hp. If you have the skills and equipment necessary, then more power to you. You can't really say that many people have done it and you'd have something that you made with your own hands, not the bolt on turbo that...
  30. Looking for a motor

Read his sig and you might begin to see what the problem might be.
  31. Evolution 8 Stock Exhaust on GVR4?

Hmm that looks really clean and subtle compared to a lot of the systems out there. I'm sure it would flow pretty well for a evoIII 16g with supporting mods.
  32. Wiring Harness

Even though I also know that it will never happen, I would like to say how awesome it would be if someone would made these harnesses for us. I would imagine that they would sell pretty well since they would probably still be cheaper than a new harness from the dealer.
  33. a honda beat me

It's almost like he wants us to show him how much we love him by bashing him for 100+ posts?
  34. a honda beat me

Yessss. Just when I thought the fun had ended, uncleben strikes again!
  35. FS: 97 Eclipse GSX..6 bolt swapped..$5500 Mass

Good luck with the sale, looks like a clean and well put together GSX. Definitely a bargain at that price.
  36. a honda beat me

Thank you for posting that back up crankwalk. We now know that uncleben has a special engine! It "sucks turbos dry" since it's a manly built motor! The first motor ever that sucks air out of a turbo instead of spooling it with exhaust gases! Unless the uncle mouted his turbo on the intake manifold
  37. a honda beat me

Your post has absolutely no logic to it. What kind of "race engine" can't run a decent time on the "small 16g turbo"? Any decently maintained engine should be able to run a 16g. Are you saying your engine is too manly for a certain turbo? That makes about as much sense as the kid who told me the...
  38. Clutch slipping when cold out?

That's somewhat along the lines of what I was thinking. I know the possibility is probably pretty slim, but I will keep an eye on my car for the next few days, especially since it's starting to warm up somewhat. Maybe, maybe my clutch will stop slipping once it gets a bit warmer, if not then...
  39. a honda beat me

Quoting uncleben4rice: Hondas are fast. yea I said it. The import aftermarket was partially built with Honda technology in mind. Oh the Uncle remembers back in the early 90s when I had my pumped Datsun 240z, I could beat any Mustang or Camaro that came my way. One day at a stop light there was a...
  40. a honda beat me

What do you mean by fully built? Hopefully you have the mods necessary to support the 35r beyond 13 psi.
  41. Clutch slipping when cold out?

Now I'm going to agree with the both of you. Took the car out again today and the clutch is definitely slipping at higher rpms. I guess there is no mystery phenomenon causing clutches to slip in cold weather. The car definitely pulls hard with this cold weather; even with the clutch slipping...
  42. Clutch slipping when cold out?

I'm running a ported 14b, fmic, and 3" exhaust on stock boost. The stock clutch should be more than able to handle that. The clutch has shown no other signs of wear, it engages smoothly each and every shift and has 1k miles on it.
  43. Clutch slipping when cold out?

Yes I'm sure. I was in 4th gear merging onto the highway, there was no ice on the highway whatsoever or I would have been focusing on staying alive rather than hitting boost
  44. Clutch slipping when cold out?

Hey guys, The past few days in Minnesota have been absolutely brutal. It's been below zero and last night was hovering right around -13 last night. I was driving my gsx last night and when I hit boost right around 4k the engine would free rev a bit. I have a stock clutch in here wth about 1k...
  45. Last Pictures of 46/1000 Prior to Storage

Yea, Minnesota winters are really harsh on cars. Salted roads = the slow death of a VR4. That's why I have my GSX! I just got a set of fresh blizzaks and i have a spare front bumper where the paint is already chipping. I'm very excited for the next snowfall My Galant on the other hand just...
  46. Experience With Full Galant Restorations?

To bustedsm, I've checked out your build several times, and I'm really impressed, good work! I like what you did with the engine back and the subframes/control arms. Again, the biggest reason for stripping it down would be for peace of mind regarding the underside of the car and under the...
  47. Experience With Full Galant Restorations?

Thanks for the reply guys. I understand that a full restoration plus rust repair will likely be quite expensive. I would find another shell, but I am reluctant because I bought my Galant at the ripe old age of 17, and since then I've put in countless hours of labor on it. At some point or...
  48. Experience With Full Galant Restorations?

This thread is mainly for information gathering for the future of my Galant. Chances are I wouldn't have the chance to do this for the next few years, but I have yet to find a very comprehensive thread on the subject, so I figure this thread might help out other members as well. Has anyone on...
