  1. FS: 91 Galant Vr4 1953/2000 Eau Claire WI, 54701 $4250

I just typed out a long message and it failed to post so I will summarize... The slave cylinder had 300 miles on it when I sold it The flywheel was correct for the vehicle, but it was a lightweight fidanza.Basically, I sold this car to the last owner (a friend of mine) as a pile of parts with...
  2. need help with crank shaft bolt

^Yes, length, and width of hose does matter.I was in a similar position when I first tore my GVR4 apart. I tried everything, including buying the most balls out IR Platinum gun, as well as using imense amount of heat, and wax (get it super hot, then melt in some parafin wax near the...
  3. FS: Oakley replica sunglasses New 30 sets 22.00 per pair!!

Im down for some frogskins if you can get them.
  4. FS: 91 Galant Vr4 1953/2000 Eau Claire WI, 54701 $4250

Im not really flexible. This is as low as I will go, as I should really just get it running and sell it. I just dont have the time anymore. What you see in the pictures is almost every dime I made making 7.50 working at a warehouse through college
  5. FS: 91 Galant Vr4 1953/2000 Eau Claire WI, 54701 $4250

I have gotten an over whelming amount of people sending email/pm for the coilovers. Unless these things are worth their weight in gold, I have no intention of removing them from the car to sell.
  6. FS: 91 Galant Vr4 1953/2000 Eau Claire WI, 54701 $4250

I installed a new oil pump, so it needs the timing belt (new, have one) x case, sub frame, exhaust, and a few little things reinstalled. The pump that was on it was a brand new pump, but it was leaking. I could not figure out why, or what to do to fix it so I replaced it. Its at my parents...
  7. Pix from my last Auto-x

Car looks great! How were your tires heating? I suppose with that much meat its hard to tell.. I'v run road racing compounds before and they stay too cold and slippery on short courses...I wish I could run my gvr4 some day, but having a formula car, and 2 miatas its kind of hard to justify.
  8. Interesting competition line up at the autox this Sunday

I run with the Mod cars (scca classing), and WHEN I have competition, I have serious competition.Otherwise I race against my co driver...which is somewhat entertaining I guess.Good luck. Looks like some stiff, but fairly reasonable competition. Keep in mind, the fastest cars dont always...
  9. Pretty paint color

When we were in middle school my buddy got a carbon fiber bottle for his paintball gunI was jealous of that rich kid
  10. What exactly is the black tar that seals the tails?

^^Nope. Seam sealer sets. Its similar to silicone caulk, but its paintable. And if you REALLY cant find it, I suppose I could stick some in an envelope and send it to you...Im not sure how much it would take.
  11. What exactly is the black tar that seals the tails?

I have no idea why I cant think of what its called, but if you go to any autobody supply they should have it on hand. I dont use it often, but we have boxes of it at work.
  12. Splurged on a DSS driveshaft

My buddy was in the same ball park with his stealth..Needed to rebuild the shaft, and he was having issues..so he dropped something like 1200 dollars on a CF shaft (that didnt replace the whole thing). It absolutely blew my mind. Thats what I paid for my gvr4.
  13. GVR4s; they're everywhere!

Me?Im not the kind of guy to show up at somebodies trailer home asking about their car.I chased him in my equinox one day when I saw him for the first time. I couldnt quite get up close enough to him.My girlfriend delivers perscriptions, and delivers in his trailer park. Ill give her the...
  14. GVR4s; they're everywhere!

Theres an old guy with a white one that lives in a trailer park here. Its completely stock, and Im sure he doesnt know what it is (as if it were some uber 1337 car..)I have had intentions of asking him to sell it, but I dont need another.
  15. Your Valve Cover Paintjobs?

^^ I believe thats how the JNZ finishing guys said they do it.I have a spare JUNK head laying around, and a couple vc's, and I just got into powdercoating.Time to get busy.
  16. Badge adhesive removal

^^It could still affect the paint...Not immediately, but with time. Lacquer thinner works awesome, but it also wrecks the finish. It will soften the paint with time and eventually cause it to dull out.I would find a good auto paint safe adhesive remover. I use something called Auto Sol in...
  17. Restored my wheels

^^One of my first experiences with stripper was the worst.I was doing a valve cover, and thought it was a good idea to use a wire brush, while wearing shorts. It burned all the way through my flesh
  18. Restored my wheels

Quoting bruce988jl: I just picked up a jug of the canned aircraft stripper. I plan on doing my 2g rims sometime this week. Any tips on how to go about it? Did you just let the stripper do all the work or did you do any scrubbing as well? Also from what I heard this stuff is tough to the touch so...
  19. Exhaust Dimensions

Quoting CarRacer: ^ Thats an interesting spot for the flex section. How is your weld at the turbo flange holding up?My whole exhaust didnt quite fit like I wanted, and that seemed to be the best place for a little wiggle to make the rest work..As you can see, its a little bent there.The...
  20. Exhaust Dimensions

I tried to do mine as absolute budget as possible.I did the whole thing with:-Turbo flange from RRE -90* bend for the DP (which I kind of cocked in the flange..complete pita to make it work right) -10 foot stick of aluminized straight -Ebay flex section -2 45*s to get around the pumpkin...
  21. Restored my wheels

Did you use spray stripper? The pour liquid in the can works wwwwway better FYI..Anyways, the wheels look awesome. What did you use to polish them?
  22. VR4 Pictures Post Here !!

Mine: 1953/2000This car was said to be a SPECIAl, special edition. Mitsubishi actually had it sitting on personalized jackstands the entire trip FROM japan to the us, on the lot, and in all of the previous owners driveways. Im just trying to keep the tradition alive. This was in the few...
  23. Suggestions on new paint job color

^^^ Although I have always adored that color and thought about it myself, I think it would ONLY look cool on a car that aggressive.
  24. Rattle can brands

For trim, I use SEM Trim black in flat, or semi. Its all I use for trim...You can buy it anywhere that sells autobody supplies.
  25. Paint prep question

Quoting insane92: Maaco isn't bad if you do your own prep work. From what I understand, it varies from place to place.. I know a guy who worked for one in chicago and he quit because he was so embarrassed by the way they did things. It hurts the pride of a real body or paint tech...
  26. Paint prep question

Our shop STARTS complete paint jobs at 3000..but thats with us doing everything..We dont take in pre-prepped jobs. We are a very qaulity shop, and our rates are actually rather low.I'd say if you want to do a complete paintjob on your car, and get it all ready yourself..you should do yourself...
  27. galant vr4 stickers

Quoting tsiboy: maybe this one too with our numbers on bottom instead of the "built for living"I can also do embroidery..
  28. galant vr4 stickers

    Absolutely
  29. galant vr4 stickers

I dont want to steal anybodies sunshine here, but I can do any of these for anyone..And about any other logo you could ever think of..and or parts of these logos, maybe mixed into something else...whatever. (yes, they are HORRIBLE pictures..I can get better if anyone wants)I mean, I...
  30. Noisy Tappets/Lifters

I have the topline(or Johnson Hy lift, I think) lifters in my car, and they are quiet as can be. After I built my motor that tick just drove me nuts. Before you install them, make 100% certain you bleed them. Even new ones come loaded with oil
  31. New paint

^^ In college we sprayed tons and tons of Nason, and a bit of dupont as well. I really didnt mind nason, and for half the price you really cant go wrong on a non show-car that is going to be garaged..I was told it would look really good (as a daily driver, in the sun every day) for 4 years until...
  32. paint or wrap debate

Well, what I said still stands, but without knowing what your doing with your vehicle I would say...No vinyl..That stuff is for company promotions..I understand it *can* look decent to the normal eye, but that is incredibly painful to the eagle eyes out there like myself...it just shouldnt be...
  33. paint or wrap debate

Paint, or leave it as is.Vinyl doesn't belong on cars.
  34. New paint

Quoting Sean92AWD: Quoting G: ^ You have any experience with glasurit?I never like spraying glasurit it seemed too always orange peel and not lay flat. I sprayed Sikkens at the shop i managed and its probably the best out there.I think House of Kolors clear is just awesome. It sprays...
  35. FS: Go Away People

Wow, that does look really good. Tell me more!
  36. Modified DSM smic/ fmic (anybody ever run one?)

I dont see why not. It would be getting the same use a stock dsm would, assuming you are keeping fairly low boost. Also, its not uncommon for twin turbo guys (specifically 3/S owners) to have Dsm Smic's modified to make work on their cars.
  37. New paint

Afraid not. At the body shop we use Akzo nobel Sikkens. In college, (and personal use) I used Dupont (and its lesser brand nason), and PPG. At the helmet shop we always use House of kolors...They sponsor our race cars so thats where I started using their materials.
  38. Prepping a bumper for paint

^^I assume it was in an accident at one time? It could be anything from bent brackets, to a tweaked core support.Quoting turbowop: Quote:Just be advised, it WILL NOT look good with rattle can.A rattle can will look just as good as the 17 year old paint a lot of these cars have. I'm...
  39. New paint

Quoting BoostedAWD91: We need a board member to get a paint booth so we can all get our cars repainted at a cheaper priceIf anybody ever needs something painted, I can pretty much do it. BUT, a complete car is a little much when Im working 45 hours at the body shop, and another 10-15...
  40. Prepping a bumper for paint

^^ Although you are correct, its also important to HAVE YOUR CAR with you when you get paint. There are often alot of variances in colors so they can find the RIGHT one for your car. I'v seen it plenty of times where 1 paint code matches ~8 paint chips. At the factory, they dont really care...
  41. FS: 97 Volvo 850glt TURBO 5cyl a/t wagon. $2900 Wisconsin

Bump, I need this thing GONE. make me an offer, even a trade.
  42. SOLD: 1992 Galant VR4 #313/1000 $2000 FIRM Twin Cities

Does the bumper feel solid, or is it barely hanging on? Typically a bumper wouldnt have moved that much at 5mph unless you took out the crash bar.Is the front end damage isolated to the bumper, or does it appear anything else was damaged? I see the grille looks cocked a bit. Is the radiator...
  43. Fuel Tank Filler Neck

Quoting iceman69510: Mitsubishi has them in stock.MB678633.According to JNZ they are NLA.I tried ordering one about a month ago.My email from jnz was: " Hi Stephan, I inquired with Mitsubishi on this product for you. It is unfortunately no longer available to be ordered. "
  44. Galant VR4 Specific Products

  45. Fuel Tank Filler Neck

I searched and searched for a new one, and finally stooped down to a used one..but found out Garfield Wright bought the last of them left in existance. I wound up buying one from him and now its a good paperweight til it warms up in wisconsin.I would recommend Pm'ing him to see if he has any...
  46. FS: 97 Volvo 850glt TURBO 5cyl a/t wagon. $2900 Wisconsin

I dont know, thats just what I read by the reviews on IPD's site. click,174&P_ID=3082&CAT_ID=174&V_ID=7062 People said they could do it in under 2 hours the first time.I dont remember why I thought it was leaking. It very well might not be, I just have it in my head that it might be leaking...
  47. How often do you drive your GVR4?

It was down for two years while I built the motor and freshened..Then I finally got it up and running but had an oil leak from the oil pump sprocket I "fixed" the issue, then daily drove it for about a month breaking in the motor, put on 350 miles, then the oil leak came back.. Now its down, and...
  48. FS: 97 Volvo 850glt TURBO 5cyl a/t wagon. $2900 Wisconsin

Ok, so its time to push this thing. First, the bad. It smokes.... Im not 100% what the problem is, but I think the PCV system has to be gone through again. I have been told carbon builds up at all of the ports, and they need to be reamed out in order to get rid of the plug. I did not do this...
