  1. WTB: Rear bumper assembly

Looking to locate a US style rear bumper assembly in a nice shape. Grey is prefered but color is not important. Has to be in a really good shape, no damage.Reply or PM with pictures.Thank you.
  2. Non AWS trailing arm swap/ 5 lug swap.

Read his post better...Quote: there are adjustable arms in replacement of the rear power rack it goes from the trailing arm to the sub frameThese are not the same as the rear camber arm...these go in place of the gvr4 stock rear power steering arm...
  3. Found problem, don't know the solution...

With the key in the on position but engine not running, check to make sure there is 12+v present on one of the connector for the injector. If it is then get a noid light to plug into the injector harness and crank the engine and see if you see the noid light blipping on off. If it is then your...
  4. new owner, new engine

Just to interject some tech content here: Don't forget to dial in the CAS base timing with a timing light. From my experience, the 5deg base timing position on the CAS is NOT when it is centered. When it is centered, CAS base timing is going to be higher than the 5deg that we should be...
  5. Sealing oil galley plug-solved

Don't use rtv on the sealing plug. Its right next to the main bearings. Bits and pieces of rtv could made its way to the bearings and fail your motor. I dont remember off hand the brand name of the one I used at the shop. Is a big green tube of it and it has lasted me 2 years now with constant...
  6. Sealing oil galley plug-solved

    Use white teflon paste.
  7. Bad keydiver ECU? (pics)

You can buy a single 12v LED from radioshack for under $2 and have a positive blink or no blink with the injectors. Good to keep in the tool box for future troubleshooting with ANY efi car.Quoting Barnes: I'll try to double check. The plugs sure looked wet with fuel (and smelled), but when...
  8. Bad keydiver ECU? (pics)

When you said you have fuel, did you verify the injector operation by using a noid light? Otherwise, have you verify that the injector is opening/closing?Since another known good ecu did start the car, the failure to start *in your particular car* could be caused by 2 things. If your injector...
  9. Mitsubishi MLS headgasket

Wizzy wheels on block deck? Bad idea.
  10. Argument with The DSM Graveyard

Mitsugraveyard recently sent a stock flywheel to a customer of mine. It is a 6 bolt fwd turbo flywheel that has been "resurfaced" with what looks like a flap wheel. There are high and low spots and no flat spots at all around the flywheel and on top of that it is full of cracks. I said hell no...
  11. No spark nor fuel...what could this be?

The 10A control current to the MPI relay. It is a very important fuse.Does the CEL cycle when you put the key in the ignition and click it to the "ON" position? The CEL should turn on for a little bit and then turn off, indicating the ECU booting up and readying itself. With the key in the...
  12. Manley or Eagle rods $25 difference which to choose

Check the small rod end. They are always a bit too tight to the wrist pin.
  13. Did I just kill the engine? :(

I know what it is not...water pump.
  14. lets talk balance shafts for a second.

Take them "oh sh*t!" shaft out. The wear in the oil pump assembly is with the *drive* gear shaft pressing onto the drive gear shaft bore on the 9~10 o'clock position as caused by the timing belt tension pulling the shaft sideways. Basic physic and geometry. Seen this all over many many times...
  15. 90 1g with 91 ignition system

Does it have 12v with the key on ON? If it does then it just didn't get a ground signal. Maybe from ecu, maybe from bad wiring.
  16. Finally got a hold of an evo3 16g turbo

I was waiting for this to come up. Here is the problem with installing those bigger flapper valve. With the bigger valve, and a bigger hole, it is easier for exhaust flow pressure to push open the valve and bleed boost once you are above 22-24psi. On a boost graph, you can see a steady boost and...
  17. Finally got a hold of an evo3 16g turbo

Most evo3 16G install with a straight thru 3" turbo back exhaust will have boost creep way past the safe zone with all stock fueling parts. The exhaust flow will not want to go out thru the wastegate port. The straight thru exhaust will present path with less restriction and the resulting flow...
  18. Pedals

Yeah. The bottom of the cover can overhang and cause you lost travel when it bottoms before the actual pedal does. Make sure the pedal can still maintain original travel. All 3 pedals are prone to this since they all pivot from above.
  19. Pedals

Make sure your secondary pedal doesn't hang up your travel..
  20. Got some parts in the mail yesterday soon to be installed on 550/2000

Paul, I use the exact same intercooler behind my jdm bumper. It fits fine, with room to spare. And I was the one who mounted turbowop's core behind his jdm bumper as well.Mike, glad you got it. Now get someone good to mount it and finish the piping. I don't want to see my nice core mounted...
  21. After seven years, the 5zigens have been replaced...

Looks better without the chrome Mark.
  22. High Idle and Vacuum boost

Quoting EgonOlsen: I just checked the Biss screw. its all the way down. I took it up just a notch to check and the Idle got even higher. So thats prolly not it, it cant go lower than it already is.Boost leak check that car. You either have a vacumm leak at manifold to head gasket, leak at...
  23. Transmission Issue...

The spline in the friction disc is not that deep. It takes less than 2-3 inches of separation to drop the tranny.
  24. After seven years, the 5zigens have been replaced...

Looks too busy for my taste. I've seen many BBS LM up close and on a German car it looks right, on the GVR4 it just looks too busy. I wonder if they wouldn't look better with the AMG smooth lower door trim panel. The way it is now looks ALMOST as if you mounted a set of the laser mesh wheels...
  25. 4th bolt between engine and trans?

The bolt is a smaller 8mm size compared to the other 3 which are at 10 mm size. However, the 10 mm bolts are only a grade 7 bolt while the smaller 8mm is a grade 10 bolt. That 8mm blind hole bottom out into the tranny. I've come across some tranny where people put too long of an 8mm bolt and it...
  26. Why do you love this car?

Quote: I guess I'm trying to justify all the issues and purchases I've had/made since I've had this car 4 months and 400 miles ago.Why did you buy a GVR4 in the first place?
  27. FS: Parting out a 91 GSX.

Because of the size, I think the bumper skins are only for local pickup only. I don't want to hassle with the shipping. Thanks for the interest though.
  28. FS: Parting out a 91 GSX.

Bump and also edited the first post with more SOLD tags
  29. WTB: 91-94 shifter base

I have one for $25 if you want. PM me
  30. FS: Parting out a 91 GSX.

I'm keeping the bottom end and head with bent valve combo for now (from the valve cover to the oil pan). The long block is about the only thing that I really want to keep from this part out. Everything else is for sale. What are you looking for?
  31. FS: Parting out a 91 GSX.

Updated first post with list of parts and prices
  32. Turbowop

Mark picked up 2 5 lug rear spindles from me. Fast payment, great communications and I let the parts flew out the door before I even get his payment. He is great!
  33. Tuning with maf translator and logging data with palm m100 ?

Stock setup is not "All 0" on the MAF translator unit. Do you have the manual for it? To start with, for a stock setup, aux = 0, base = 2, the rest you gotta do your own looking into it. click
  34. FS: Parting out a 91 GSX.

Quoting spooln4fun: I may be interested in the Passenger door cover. Mine has the black piece broke on it and also if you have the little screw covers that go on both sides. Roughly 1/2" by 1/2" near the interior door handle. LmkI have both driver and passenger doors complete in good...
  35. FS: Parting out a 91 GSX.

Quoting MuffinMan7580: What kind of exhaust is on it? I'm looking for a 2.5" DP.Stock exhaust. Already choppped it up ready to go to recycling.
  36. FS: Parting out a 91 GSX.

What a long Saturday it was. Stripped the whole car in 6 hours. Got a lot of pictures, I'll upload them here soon.------------- There are a ton more of parts that were put into a pile for recycling. front and rear subframes, steering rack, front and rear brakes, cross members, etc. So let...
  37. FS: Parting out a 91 GSX.

I have at the shop a red abs 5 speed 91 GSX that is going to be fully parted out down to the shell. Aside from the usual stuff, that means steering rack, steering column, pedal assembly, shifter base, the whole front subframe, front suspension, brake setup, knuckle/ hub etc, driveshaft, the...
  38. Rear Diff fill hole plug stripped

Did you use a 12 point socket or a 6 point socket? For situation requiring a good application of torque, please only use 6 point socket.
  39. Removed a/c??? Come on in

3 options:1. hack and install that portion of the compressor bracket so you got the proper thickness spacer out of it. 2. use / stack a few washers as spacer. 3. go to mitsu and buy the spacer. it is available from factory for cars that doesn't comes with ac.I would just do number 1.
  40. Lets talk Slave cylinders

I've been using a 2G slave in my gvr4 for the last 12+ years. You have to shave the bottom portion of the motor mount a bit to clear the bleed nipple and give clearance for nipple wrench. The reason I am using the 2G slave is because the bleed nipple points to the driver side and it makes...
  41. AEM PROBE ...

    probe?
  42. Rebuild Lasted 600 MIles

Well, now that the head is off you can spin the crank and see if it spins smoothly or not. There are not too many rotating parts on the timing belt path. If its not the crank, you got 2 more pulleys to check out then its the oil pump for sure. Since the oil pan is coming off, you can pop some of...
  43. Fire Ring

take off you exhaust manifold. Look inside exhaust manifold and inside exhaust port in the head. If port and manifold is covered in oil then its your motor. If they are clean its your turbo.
  44. Rebuild Lasted 600 MIles

That bottom end looks just fine. Smooth out the point of impact, use sandpaper to blend in the piston top again so its smooth where it used to be smooth. I would put the individual piston that you are working on up on TDC, and leave the headgasket on the block to protect the block surface while...
  45. Rebuild Lasted 600 MIles

You have to remove the rockers to do the camshaft spin test accurately. With the rockers in place, the camshafts are still mechanically connected to the valves.
  46. Rebuild Lasted 600 MIles

Quoting rmontalvo23: Quoting Terry Posten: Sure looks like something seized by the way belt is ripped. Are the camshafts able to spin? Did a timing bearing seize?Sucks to see.If I turn the key the engine spins just fine but of course with zero compression. So the cams are moving around...
  47. Rebuild Lasted 600 MIles

Oil pump related problem? Feel the oil pump sprocket. Directly: seized sprocket caused belt to snap. Indirectly: oil pump problem somehow -> lack of lubrication to the top end will cause camshaft or camshafts to seized and belt to snap.
