    Sold! Thanks for the interest!
  2. FS: Tomica 1/64 scale diecast GVR4 model (New in Box)

Hey folks, long time no see!On a recent trip to Japan I stopped in a hobby shop and picked up a model GVR4 for myself. There were a whole bunch there and they looked sad so I brought another one home with me in case anyone here is interested in their own. This is basically a matchbox-sized...
  3. FS: 92 GVR4 (960 of 1000) for parts or repair - $3000 obo - NoVA

The car is sold. Take good care of her for me Craig!
  4. FS: 92 GVR4 (960 of 1000) for parts or repair - $3000 obo - NoVA

Some additional info off the top of my head:* Timing belt was replaced when I did the motor, as were all the pulleys, tensioners, water pump, coolant hoses, etc.* I pulled the pedal box and put in a new clutch arm and welded it to the shaft not 5k miles ago. New clutch hydraulics. Perfect...
  5. FS: 92 GVR4 (960 of 1000) for parts or repair - $3000 obo - NoVA

Hi guys, the time has finally come to part with my beloved GVR4. We've been through a lot of great times together but her first 10 years in New England have caught up to her and she's got rust all along the passenger side frame rail that's spreading into the rear wheel well. The driver door is...
  6. TRF Skid Plate

Nice, that's something I wish I had back when I was doing TSD/RallyX all the time. If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost?
  7. A couple questions

    1) If you unbolt the strut from the wheel hub, you should gain enough clearance that you won't need to touch the ball joint. Sometimes you can just pull the axle right out, other times the ring is tight and you need to get a little leverage on it with a prybar or use a slide hammer.2) Not sure...
  8. I swear my car feels like it's pulling harder at 50% throttle... am I crazy

Haha good one.Damn that sucks, sorry to hear. That is a common issue with the fuel pulsation dampener leaking. I just replaced mine a year ago so I hope to avoid that but I almost burnt my car to the ground yesterday doing something else entirely.
  9. I swear my car feels like it's pulling harder at 50% throttle... am I crazy

Hehe GVR4, FD and an SV, nice choices. I have an '01 SV myself I tell you some days I really get fed up with the ridiculous 90's engineering vacuum line nonsense complexity of the sequential turbos, emissions BS, etc. but when the whole thing working right it still puts a smile on my face.
  10. I swear my car feels like it's pulling harder at 50% throttle... am I crazy

At part throttle, you're likely in closed loop operation. When you go WOT, it's in open loop and only running on the a/f map you've programmed in. It sounds like that map needs tweaking. You're on the right path with the WBO2.
  11. Whos driven new or fully stock vr4s?

Mine was bone stock when I got it. For its time, the car was pretty special. You have to keep in mind there has been a ridiculous horsepower war over the last decade. Back in those days, soccer moms didn't need 300 horsepower in their appliances and 5.0 Mustangs put out about the same power...
  12. How many miles on your GVR-4?

Bought it with 113k miles. Currently 226k miles and going strong. I'd have a lot more but my commute is only 3 miles :P
  13. Espelir Springs on Evo8 suspension

Quoting PlatypusOfFury: Yeah, would be nice to see that height and how the rake is on different setups.Just took this pic. Car is filthy due to snow from last week but you get the idea. I wouldn't want the back any lower than the stock Evo8 springs already make it.
  14. COP removal, back to stock ignition

Can you describe your 3k stumbling problem? I have a similar issue that cropped up not that long ago (also been using a COP for years but never had this problem until recently). Only happens once I hit over 15psi at WOT. If I keep on it for a second, it clears up at higher RPMs though. I've been...
  15. Espelir Springs on Evo8 suspension

I use the ASD springs on my Evo8 struts in the front only. Since the stock Evo springs in the back were already stiffer than the front and sit pretty low I left them alone. I can grab a pic later if you want to see what the ride height looks like with this configuration.
  16. Noob: shifter question

+1 on replacing the shifter bushings. Money WELL spent. Also, yea, disconnect both ends of your shifter cables and move them in and out by hand. See if there's any binding. I ended up having to replace my cables because they were catching inside badly.
  17. Boostx

Bought a COP years ago from John and he still stands behind his product 100%. Buy with confidence from this guy!
  18. Installing wbo2, couple questions

NP. Good luck. You're going to *love* 20+ PSI when the time comes
  19. Front control arms

Hey curtis, I've been around but mostly just lurking in the classifieds. Overhauled the whole powertrain in 960 a few years back and the car has been problem free so I've forgotten what working on it was like and haven't had any "how do I" questions to post ;P
  20. Installing wbo2, couple questions

You should be fine to run the GM MAF in blow-through with a dumped BOV with no ECU upgrades or other tuning but you'll still have to keep the boost low so as not to run into fuel cut. You can probably just use the default settings for stock injectors + 1g MAF and any tuning tweaks you make based...
  21. Front control arms

I had a ball joint pop out during a rally one time. That was fun, I finished the event holding the wheel 90 degrees to the left just to go straight D:I don't believe there are any differences between a 1G AWD lower control arm/ball joint and that of a GVR4.I think in my case the seat in...
  22. Installing wbo2, couple questions

The MAF-T box does have the ability to tweak your fuel tuning a little but it's not really a tuning tool for making fine adjustment. My recommendation for using the translator is set it correctly for your stock MAF and injectors then leave it alone. Use your WB02 to do your additional tuning...
  23. running funny..... need help...

Awesome, glad you found your problem and it was an easy fix. re: the waterpipe, if it were me instead of going through all the trouble of removing it, I'd let it dry out completely, clean it off real well, JB Weld the fracture in-place, and call it good. For low pressure applications like that...
  24. Clutch problem diagnosis?

Off the top of my head, the only thing I can think of is that your clutch pedal rod could be adjusted too far out (in some cars/master cyls this isn't even possible), you can plug up the bleeder valve in the master cyl with the plunger so the slave can't fully bleed down. This could cause your...
  25. running funny..... need help...

First thing first, eliminate the known problems. The area where the coolant is leaking has a bunch of junctions including, IIRC, the heater core feed/return and the throttlebody coolant hoses. Fix the leak and dry out the affected area. You may need to unplug the O2 sensor and clean any...
  26. 1865 track day and DD

Nice work so far. Good to see a VR4 restored instead of scrapped!
  27. FS: AMG spark plug cover Cusco evo iii camber plates More!!!

Interested in this:BRAND NEW fender liner/splash guard (R)---$47shippedDo you have the PN of this item? IINM there are two separate pieces to the front passenger side fender liner. Thanks!
  28. DSM lowering springs on Evo struts.

FWIW I put Evo Espelir ASD springs on in the front and left the back with the stock Evo8 springs. This lowers the front about 1" and keeps the back right where it should be. It also gets you back to stiffer springs in the front and less stiff in the back which is "normal" for the GVR4.
  29. WTB: 1g DSM Shift Boot

    All good, thanks.
  30. WTB: 1g DSM Shift Boot

Looking for a 1g leather shift boot in excellent conditions. Let me know what you've got and send a pic if possible. Thanks!
  31. Spatchana (aka Pot)

Smooth transaction, super fast shipping, great communication. Thanks!
  32. WTB: Shifter Cables

WTB - GVR4 or 92-94 DSM shifter cables in new or nearly-new condition. Mine have 220k miles and are getting worn/stretched to the point they're outside the adjustment range. Let me know what you've got, thanks!
  33. Chattering during deceleration

    Rebuilt trans fixed the problem.
  34. where to get a carbon fiber vented hood?

I've got a perfect fitting replica JDM vented hood I'll sell you... Next time you're in the D.C. area
  35. Anyone with a GVR4 that does not leak oil?

219,000 miles and everything that can leak has done so at some point The car is completely leak-free now though and has been for years.
  36. Car does not go into gear when the car is running???

If noone's said it already, assuming the hydraulic system is okay and the pedal is adjusted to maximum possible throw of the stock adjustment rod, you're pedal assembly is probably worn out. That's what I'm fighting with right now.clickWatch the first video on this page for how to...
  37. Suspension setups

Just FWIW, the front driver side always sits lower than the passenger side. I doubt you'll find any stock-suspensioned gvr4s that don't do this. IIRC the corner weights are really biased towards the front driver side already even before you add the weight of the driver.
  38. Chattering during deceleration

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead but I think I have the same problem...For years I've had the "grumbling" on decel problem that has plagued many people (there's a thread I think started by CP on that from a year or more back). Lately, not only has that grumbling gotten a lot worse...
  39. NOVA, DC, and MD Meet Saturday, November 6th - Richmond, VA

Subscribing. I may be able to meet in Nov.
  40. rear end problems

I had one of the spider gears in my 4-bolt break off a tooth before. It was a pretty sizeable chunk of metal that came out with the oil. Diff worked fine for many many miles in that condition though. I have that diff completely apart so if it turns out you need any parts to repair yours with, LMK.
  41. I just wanted to know if anyone here is over 200K

217k. I'm the 4th owner, bought it with just a tick over 100k on the clock. At 200 I changed out the original motor for a fresh rebuild/new turbo/etc. The old motor was still pulling great at 20-25psi on ported big 16g but it was burning a fair amount of oil/smoking under boost. The car is my...
  42. WoooHooo Snow! Post Your Snow Pics

Here's a pic from the snow in VA from last Friday. We got another 10-20" on top of this earlier this week:
  43. Evo suspension using OEM evo camber bolts

I hated having larger bolt holes on the strut versus the wheel hub because high conering forces can cause the camber to change unexpectedly mid-turn even if you crank down on the bolt. I didn't want to drill out the hub for strength reasons (I snapped an unmodified hub at that location before in...
  44. AEM issue with Coolant temp sensor

You're not using the factory engine harness are you? According to the wiring diagram, the coolant temp sensor wire splits off and goes to visit the TPS and EGR. If there's a short in the harness somewhere (like I suspect mine has), you may get some unpredictable readings. I get sporadic CELs and...
  45. Clutch adjustment??

VFAQ is your friend: clickLots of other good clutch adjustment info: clickYou really should watch this short video before adjusting your clutch as well:click
  46. who has had this serious problem?

Yea that thread looks fine underneath. Run the die over that thing and you'll be good to go!
  47. who has had this serious problem?

Since you've slotted the nut a bunch already you may be able to get a chisel in there and gently pry the nut apart to get it off now. If it does come off I'd still lube and chase those threads with a die and use lot of anti-seize when reassembling. You may not need to replace the stud at all if...
  48. who has had this serious problem?

Quoting MellowVR4: yes how did you fix itThe one I broke was the one that the stud doesn't go up through the floor but rather has a little raised stand-off. I drilled out the old stud, tapped new threads in the hole, and threaded in an exhaust manifold stud from the autoparts store that was...
  49. who has had this serious problem?

Could be worse. I snapped the stud off
