  3. Evo X turbo

Yes, I agree. However, even without twin scroll I think that the tdo5h-152g from the X would be a great DD turbo. It's a *slightly* smaller inducer and same exducer as the 16g6 so should have a similar efficiency map with slightly faster spool. And using the standard 7cm exhaust housing would...
  4. Evo X turbo

FWIW the Evo X turbo should be compatible with a standard tdo5h turbine housing that would bolt up to the stock manifold. I've been thinking about this for a while -- should be basically bolt-on with slightly faster spool than an E16g.
  5. Steering rack upgrades.

I've been toying with the idea of swapping in a rack from an awd 3si/3000gt/stealth. Should work with the stock tie-rods, which will need to be shortened a little, and would be noticeably quicker than the stock 16:1 ratio. The inner tie-rod joint will sit slightly farther outboard than stock --...
  6. Rear Caliper Issue (Guide Pin/Bushing) [Long Read]

Hm, interesting. The only thing I can add is that my back right wheel has a clicking noise in cold/wet weather, which has persisted after replacing the wheel bearings, but goes away when I apply the brakes. I had assumed a caliper/rotor issue but haven't yet torn into it. I was planning on...
  7. '13+ outlander rear rotors

Quoting iceman69510:Intriguing idea. I actually have a pair of these rear calipers I acquired to experiment with on another vehicle. Never thought about the rotors though. I believe the calipers I have are from a 14MY. IIRC they may have changed slightly from 13--> 14MY.Yeah I was...
  8. '13+ outlander rear rotors

So I'm finishing my last few months in the UK and already thinking about ways to sink money into my VR4 when I move back in the fall. I've been tempted by the outlander front brake upgrade for a while but I don't want to increase forward bias since the rear brakes on these cars are already under...
  9. Inline pcv route

No part of the PCV system should be open to atmo as this will lead to unmetered air being ingested through the PCV valve. The pre-turbo-to-side-cover port is for ventilation when the IM is under vacuum. But under boost, the PCV valve closes and the pre-turbo port becomes the relief valve for...
  10. Identifying an unknown EPROM chip

^^ You would need to get an EEPROM chip reader/burner and software, unplug the chip from the ECU and insert it into the reader, and import it to your computer, and then read what's on it. And you would have to have some idea of what information is stored where on the chip because it's not at all...
  11. FREE:4G64 Block and Crank

Don't suppose it has balance shafts?
  12. 15's on the Galant

^ IMO, 205/50/15 and 225/45/15 are too small for these cars. By contrast, 205/55/16 and 225/50/16 are both excellent sizes and a quick search on TireRack will return many good options across all performance categories. The problem with 16's is not the tires, it's the wheels; finding a AWD...
  13. Where to find stock fuel pressure regulator RESOLVED

Quote: Supposedly.... the 1G can handle the 190. Now at 46 psi, the car is getting as much fuel as if it were running 9 pounds of boost, if I understand things correctly. All things being equal, the flow is proportional to the square root of the pressure drop, so with sqrt(46/37)=1.115...
  14. steering rack

Quoting fuel: ^^ it's an inch or two wider.I wonder if it might work anyway. I always found that the outer tie-rod ends only threaded a few turns onto the inner tie-rods anyway. An extra half inch on either side could be a good thing. What's the steering ratio on a 3si rack?Edit...
  15. 15's on the Galant

Could also have clearance issues with the rear trailing arm. The backspace is reduced closer to the hub so wider wheels have to also be larger diameter or they'll interfere. Here's a good link for known combinations. click
