Hey Everyone!!

My name is Miguel and I am now the proud owner of a 1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 badge number 520/2000. The car in its current state is completely bone stock with the exception of a newer radio. A/C is frosty and windows all operate under their own power. The car right now is a hair over 174k. I have put around 500 miles on it so far and have enjoyed every minute. I am not unfamiliar to these cars as i used to own 1027/2000 but she is long gone and I have no record of what happened to her, but that is for another day.

I am the third owner of this car. First being a military guy and second being a Mitsubishi Part Manager. Long story short behind the car is that the original owner had the car for a while until one day the timing belt came off after come maintenance in traffic and caused alot of money worth of damage. Car sat for a little but was later sold to owner two. From then he decided to repair everything with OEM parts for the water pump, timing belt, and different amounts of head work and refreshing. The head was installed using only OE parts and fired right up after all the damaged was assessed, sorted, and repaired. Thus brings the car into my ownership.

I have not done much to the car other than enjoy it. I just put in a nice order with David and sometime soon we should get some surprises for #520.

Here are some pictures of my gal:

She looks good Miguel and great first post! Thanks for sharing. We look forward to seeing where you take her. Familiarize yourself with the site don't be shy to ask for opinions/assistance and you'll be in good hands.

As a Mitsubishi parts specialist maybe you can find time to give Josh (JNZtuning) a hand or share your knowledge. He maintains an online and physical shop that has helped a lot of keep our galants in tip top shape with factory/aftermarket parts. Anyway, I look forward to seeing where you take 520!

Thanks for the love. I have played with many evo 8 and 9's. Have three under my belt that have made over 700hp each. I am new to the "DSM" world. Its different. Trying to distinguish what 1G are interchangable and will fit the GVR4. Looking up standalone options, we are kind of left behind. Thankfully ECMLink is still around but for some reason, I am very unsatisfied with how their OS is. Yes, they work. However, something inside has been telling me to stay away because they seem so outdated. EPROM chipping works but I am back to feeling like a honda. If I were to do it right, I would only want full standalone. This is where I have been leaning towards MegaSquirt. They are local to me and I know all the guys up there. They have great support and tuners in my area are well trained in MS.

I will be giving Josh a call soon to place an order as well, as I have some parts that need some replacing. I am also just trying to find out what is left for us. Downpipes or exhaust are nonexistent. As well as some little things here and there.

Curious to learn as much as I can again and hopefully shoot for some serious power down the line.

CMP is the exhaust thread here ... I don't know if that is still a sticky or not.
For exhaust, the guys comment on using a particular setup and adding some pipe.
They'll fill in after me for sure.

Guys overseas (Like AUS) use full standalone, but like you it is because of familiarity and ease of tuning locally. It is out there though, but maybe not labelled as GVR4 specific?

hmmmm....I don't know about your user name /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hsugh.gif

Anyway, ECMLink V3 is a very capable system with options for MAF/Speed Density/Multi Maps/Cell tracking/2-step/E-85 on the fly, most will not see the need of a full Standalone ECU EPROM or not. I not a Honda guy so I can't speak for any Honda crap.

Also Certified Muffler is the only pre-made exhaust systems available for the GVR4 (which I'm happen to be selling one). The only other option is full custom or mod a 1g exhaust to work. For a downpipe, most people use a 2g downnpipe without much problems.

So I have had the car almost 3,000 miles now.

A little update.

About a month ago. I had a problem where I lost all pressure in my clutch petal and it got stuck to the floor. Pulled over...my slave cylinder had wiggles itself loose and disconnected from the fork and transmission. Luckily Roswell PD came to save the day.

They helped me tow it to a local parking lot instead of the street to fix it and bleed the system.

After that. The car was running great except for I was only building 4-5 Psi. I found my problem. I had a non stock solenoid try to control my waste gate actuator solenoid and wasn't working properly. I just up my new parts guy name POT and he helped me get back on the road with a stock boost controller. After replacing. I was back to a good 7-8psi and much better powerband. I still feel sluggish down low but that should be fixed when my timing light arrives this week.

This week has been enjoying the suspension I threw on there mid last week, FEAL Suspension (7k/7k)

I love how they ride. I have them set at middle setting (15clicks) and have yet to adjust. Also got an alignment and it turns almost like my Miata did. I need to find sway bars soon.

I have a couple parts I have been acquiring along the way.

I have:
-Buschur racing short block
-2g manifold and turbo
-punishment racing atmosphere dump o2 housing
-non cruise control cable
-diypnp megasquirt
-evo3 turbo.

Need to order my stuff to get ready for e85 as well.
