Olson just got back from a four year tour in Okinawa. 338 has been in storage the whole time at his parents house in Nebraska. He has some big ideas to get it ready for autocross and road race season for 2015. Knowing how things will pan out I offered to take car of all the maintenance and upgrades for him. I took delivery this morning of the car from the transporter. His dad was unsuccessful in getting it started for me and ultimately it jumped time. No big deal as we talked about going back to a stock head anyway. I will update what I can here as things progress. I am hoping it is only here for a month or so while I wait on some fabricated parts from my aluminum welder for the new setup.

New stuff will be-
Upgrade from V2 to V3 dsmlink
Speed density conversion
Remove the intercooler and make a hotpipe with two secondary injectors in the pipe
Run a whole new fuel system and remove the stock based system
Make a baffled fuel tank and mount it in the trunk
Go back to stock cams
New clutch because the stock one is slipping
Retune the whole car
Repair/replace the cylinder head
New timing components

And maybe some other small stuff. That is all I can think of right now. I will start by pulling the engine and transmission this weekend and moving from there. I will work on pics if I can.

I GIVE ZERO FUCKS. I HATE YOU ALL.

Nope. Only about 12 hours into it with the engine removal. I replaced all eight intake valves as they did get bent. Replaced the rear main seal and cover gasket. Checked the bearings and cleaned all the parts. If all goes well I should have it and the tranny back in tonight and then onto the modifications. If my friends were to come help, vaginas, it would have already been running.

I GIVE ZERO FUCKS. I HATE YOU ALL.

I did a few other things tonight so the motor did not go in. I put on an extra oil cooler housing as Jake decided he wants an oil cooler now. I cleaned the transmission a little. It really needs pulled apart and scrubbed or sand blasted. I have a parts washer and a blasting cabinet but, I am already doing this all for free, so I don't feel like tearing the transmission down and possibly having to rebuild it. It has 148,xxx miles on it now and was working just fine. I don't want to fix what isn't broken. I also had to pull some other parts that sold off the car and inventory all of Jake's childhood dolls and dresses his parents sent with the car. I just need to pull the timing belt cover off my talon and throw I on here before I slam the motor in. It has been snowing and been only as warm as 5* the last two days here in Denver and the talon is sitting outside under the snow. So it likely won't happen tomorrow as it will be cold again but, maybe Friday afternoon it will be warmer and I can get out there and pull it off. Once that stuff is done then I can start on the hotpipe conversion and new fuel system.

I GIVE ZERO FUCKS. I HATE YOU ALL.

I mean, I don't need it. But yes, I want it. A minty fuel tank would make a great addition to my parts hoard. I just don't know if I can afford it...

I took two photos of the baffles before I welded the end of the tank on. When I went to upload them from my phone they were not there. I had to reset my phone and they were gone. Oh well. There are two baffles that run the lengths of the tank inside. It is 26"x18"x7" which is a little over 14 gallons. Now I will take it for finish welding. Parts are on the way for the secondary fuel injectors as well. Picked up a fuel pressure regulator and a bunch of sittings today as well. Moving right along.

The new tank looks good. Just out of curiosity, why didn't you stick with the stock unit?

That is why. This car actually turns and is thrown around like they were meant to be. He was having starvation issues with the stock tank even with a full tank of fuel.
