just got a hold of a 91 with lots of motor mods (don't have the current list handy) but I am new to this motor and not sure all the stuff they did to it was correct or a hack job. looking for some people in my area that may be able to help me out.

91 Galant VR-4! #0023 of 2000,it is rear wheel drive as of now I need a reman or built front diff, Rebuilt 13b with zero miles, with manual boost controller. Engine has eagle rods, wiesco pistons with arp fastener and head studs. Big front mount intercooler, Tial bov, Evo 8 injectors, kyb struts, lowering springs & jdm front & rear bumpers. 3” thermal exhaust, short throw shifter, Momo steering wheel which I HATE (why would anyone want such a small steering wheel) chipped and tuned ecu. New flywheel and starter with 0 miles on them.

only 13b i've heard of is the RX7 engine...is that a mitsubishi turbo? unless you meant 14b

and rwd...maybe one of the more seasoned vets can help you with that one. As far as mods go, I think you'd want to figure out these things:

-what kind of maf
-what kind of fuel pump, and fuel management if any

but also,

-has a compression and boost leak test been done/timing checked?
-what maintenance has been done/needed: timing belt, hoses etc
-how does it run, idle?

I would take it a little easy on the car until the above are answered. you can probably dig around on the forum to see if the car has any history on here, as well.

Post some pics up of what you got.

Doing a google search it looks like 23/2000 used to be boostx's car.

yeah meant 14b. i should proof read first.
maf 2g
and i think stock fuel pump along with rail supposed to have evo8 injectors, I just ordered a AEM rail for it, it has a fuel pressure regulator and autometer air/fuel meter I just got hooked up.
I need to figure out how to do the boost leak test. it has a kevlar timing belt just did oil change and fixed a leaky oil cooler bypass that was done (not sure why you would want to eliminate) idle is funky some time after cold high idle it will climb back up to a higher idle after driving and have already had lower idle.

Good luck!

Why are you buying an aftermarket fuel rail? Also, you need to switch to speed density or a GM MAF, or recirculate that BOV

Welcome btw!

It spent some time in the back woods of michigan.

When I asked about the engine bay paint the owner said 'i got bored' /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif

Previous owner was a guy with a young family, had some bad luck buying some parts and wound up needing to get it back up and running and just sell it. Owning one of these cars can be a struggle if you dont have spare cash or time to keep them up and going. especially when they had weird/bad mods done to them. I tried to buy it once or twice so I could rehab it.

I figured like any other motor I've dealt with bigger injectors, the a better fuel rail would be better also to get fuel there faster, figured stock was okay but a/m would be more efficient especially after I put 650cc on it.
and when you say recirculate bov would that be back into the intake? cause that is how it is plumbed now.

I'm not sure lol this is how I traded for it and now it's my turn to learn about this motor and make it bada__ but I believe I have alot of work to do. I have a crazy Idle problem right now. I need to get a DSMlink and tune this thing, I got a socketed ECU with it and it has a AMS tuned chip in it but when I install it, it runs like poop!!!

SO I have been reading around the forum and looks like this car has been around and had lots of different things done to it, hard telling what is still done or what has been done on top. I noticed it used to have a strut tower stiffener some one kept that part lol. If anyone lives in the are and wants to give the new guy a school lesson on what to do to this thing to make it right and or where to start to bring her back to par so I can go past that, give me a shout. I would like in the next year have this thing hitting over 400-450hp and back to AWD.

seeing the colors and the vacuum hoses plugged up just sucked all the energy out of me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/uhh.gif

it's got some goodies on her though- the afpr, cruise eliminated, coil on plug, tial bov...i just don't understand with all that effort invested, how the colors would be the way they are, and the the tb hoses plugged like that (looks like stitches that haven't been trimmed). also what is that red horn looking thing next to the washer fluid tank?

does the AMS chip have a label on it, saying what it's tune for? also yea, the boost leak test is a good first step in finding out about your high idle.

what did you trade for it, if you don't mind me asking.
