Silver strip on the doors and bumpers...some questions about it.

I plasti dipped my entire car and I am having trouble getting the sprayer to cover those silver strips from not only a coverage perspective (hard to get the plastidip in there to cover the strips) but from an adhesion perspective (plastidip not sticking very well to those strips).

I guess my question would be how those strips come off and what type of residue they leave behind when removed. What would it look like if I removed the strips and the residue then just plastidipped over that area?

Normally, I'd just pull the plastidip off of those strips but the clearcoat was peeling off of those strips anyways just like it was the rest of the paint.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
