Finally got my VR-4 on the road!!!

After 3 years of owning this car, I finally got a tag on it this morning. I bought the car without a title. So... I had to track down the previous owner in TN, and get the title sent to me. Then, because it was a rebuilt title, I had to get it inspected in GA. Once I did that, I had to send off to get a title. Then it was just insuring it, buying a battery, passing emissions, and getting the tag. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Money invested so far:
Car itself $250
Plugs/wires/oil change/repair manual etc $300
Labor to fix what all was really wrong with it $400 (Clean out tank, replace filler hose, and parts listed below.)
Parts including fuel pump, coil pack?, filler hose, misc things here and there $300
Battery $120
Emissions $20
Tag and taxes for remainder of the year, and next year $32.36
So under 1500 total invested so far...

I was honestly thinking I was going to sell this car, but now that I've driven it on dry ground... My mind has been changed.

^ actually what he has is OEM USDM. EIther way it's pretty awful though, a boneyard 1G shifter & boot looks/feels a zillion times better. Though you'll then be in $1520!!

I just noticed your guys get a different electric window control unit /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm finishing putting back all of the plastics now. Got under the driver's side on, just have to get passenger's side now.

Just looks mirrored from the RHD one. Or are you meaning the electric mirror switch? The whole console around the electric mirror switch appears to be different - while the JDM is quite level and steps up to the console pocket lid, the USDM seems to ramp up to meet the pocket lid.

Update: After driving around 500 miles, my power steering belt screwed up, and the right side ebrake cable isn't releasing all the way, so I now have to replace that, pads, and rotor. I think I'm gonna do a 4 wheel brake job this weekend though just to be safe. Car's also losing a little boost. I need to find one of those turbo charge hoses. (I guess that's what it's called?)

Yeah the whole set up in the center console. My left/right selection switch is a separate item, right next to the fold/unfold mirror button /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif

I know it has a leak. Where it hooks from the exhaust/turbo to the airbox is a joke of a connection. I put zip ties for the tween time to keep the power up, but even that doesn't work all the time. I just wanna buy an after market hose. Ebay here I come. To look at least.

That connection is a joke on my car. :-/

The NZ-new models with power mirrors have the same switch as the USDM power mirror control, with the left/right control switch in the middle. I think all Mitsis with power mirrors which don't have the folding fuction revert to the older switch.

That shift knob doesn't look oem to me, it's too tall. And the oem setup isn't that bad. Personally I think the 1g boot looks horrible, but the 2g boot looks good. I hate the material/texture/color of the 1g boot. The common dark gray 2g boot is where it's at.

Found this in the trunk. It's pretty cool. It feels like a joystick minus the buttons.

^^^ You may be the only one who likes the 1g shift knobs.
