The hardest part in my opinion is getting the correct parts. Although that is highly dependent on what type of rebuild you do. Other than that I think it is relatively easy. Buy a high quality gear splitter plate, and a press, and it is fairly straight forward.

There are various manuals for doing this. I believe I used a factory service manual. It has been a while however.

well i do have all data at work.. or some data as we call it. as well as all the necessary presses and the likes. only issue is finding time to put my car in teh air. pull the trans rebuild it and back together in my day off or between customers.

Pickup a spare transmission to rebuild. That way you can rebuild it when you have time and simply R&R the transmission between customers.

You can then rebuild your original one and sell it or put it on the shelf as a spare.

Just go on craigslist! I seriously love my craiglist phone app. It updates me on special keywords like 1G, DSM, 4G63, etc.

Shimming is very easy IMO. Just tedious.

You can say that again!
To the OP, do you have the Manual Trans repair school book? I have a PDF copy if you don't.

If it's Android it's just called Graiglist. I have the same app on my phone looking for cars to flip. Works great.
