Hey I have a 91 gvr4 and its tranny is about to go, I found a 91 gsx that the timing belt snapped on that I was thinking about buying to swap over the tranny and what ever else I could. I'm just wondering what all I can use from the gsx that will fit the vr4, axels, rear diff, radiator, front mount piping. Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks

Ok and the 91 gsx has the 3 bolt rear end but it's lsd? So I can do a 5 lug swap right? Is the tooth count the same on the axels?

You will have to use the gsx transmission, rear diff and tcase. The final drive ratio is different from the vr4. By the way.. what color is the gsx you picked up?

Also we have a Colorado based vr4 facebook group. If your on facebook and interested in joining pm me your info and I'll put you in the group.

Are we talking about a Galant GSX or an eclipse GSX? I'm assuming eclipse in which the drive ratios are not different.

So I will have to change out the rear diff? I was planning on doing that but at a later date, along with the axels.

No, rear diff does not have to be swapped. GVR4 and dsm use the same final drive. The Galant GSX of the other hand, uses a taller final drive.

Is there anyway I can fit the thermal exhaust to the vr4?

You would need to extend it in the middle about 14" I believe. My son just extended his SR-S stainless exhaust from his old Talon by that amount I believe to get it to fit on his Galant.
