Re: Build Thread of 385/2000

That's a good setup, and all most really need. What about the drivetrain? Did you just clean it up while the engine was out? I can't stand when people put filthy parts back onto the car after they have been removed.

Builds looking good, I miss being in Bako. I'm glad that I'm at 4300 ft above elevation though, it's about 10 deg. cooler. I do hate how far I have to travel to get to L.A. and the Ventura, it's quite the drive but a fun one. Good luck with the build

Seeing this thread for the first time. I bought 390/2000 which also happens to be Nile Black from it's original owner! Granted it didn't come with all the maintenance records like yours, but still pretty crazy that 2 so closely numbered stayed with the original owners so long! Good work so far!

Re: Build Thread of 385/2000

Rust wasn't really an issue I think the only thing that really had any rust was the rotors

The tumbler is a nice tool to have around I mostly use it to clean bolts and small parts leaves the threads nice and clean and there cheap if you use there 25% off coupon.

So here's a little of today's progress.

I was slightly confused myself. Of caution though, while the tumbler is great for small pieces like the water neck, caliber bracket, etc, be cautious with the bolts as the medium will remove the factory zinc/cadmium coating. This will cause your bolts (while looking sharp in the short-term) to wind up acquiring surface rust.
